    "What did you find out?"


    Maxine looked at James with a stunned expression on her face.


    James pointed at the first and tenth human figures and said, "Look."

    Maxine asked, "Are you suggesting that we’ re on the right track but simply missing something?"


    James nodded.


    "Yes."


    "What could it be, then?"


    Maxine stared at the painting.


    James shook his head.He could not figure it out at the moment.


    "What do the mountains represent? What’s the meaning of the wooden house?"


    Lost in contemtion, Maxine stared at the painting.However, she could not understand it.


    The basement fell silent.


    James and Maxine scrutinized the Moonlit Flowers on Cliffside’s Edge and the 18-meridian diagram


    intently.


    The night passed silently.


    Maxine remained in the basement for the whole night.


    Along with James, she examined the painting.
