    “Decorating for prom.” Emmy said. “Sherry and Penny are going toe out earlier and help get it all

    “The club is having their grand re-opening Friday.” Kristen look at me like she wasn’t sure anymore.

    “I have an envelope for you with dates. The Halloween party is a go. I’d like to do it at the event center


    too if that is open.” Penny said to

    -“Perfect. I’m excited to dress up.” Kristen rubbed her hands together


    and looked at Alec.


    “What are you going to go as, Colt?” Jacob asked me.


    “A bodyguard.” I wasn’t in the mood to be thinking about Halloween.

    looked at Kristen.


    “We have a long time to think about it.” Alec said and stood up straight.


    “We need to head home. There is some stuff I need to do.” I told the group and stood up.


    “Not staying for supper?” Kristen frowned at me.


    “I’ve had enough of you for one day. Last thing I want is to sit through

    Grabbing the envelope, I headed back to the group. They had all stood up and the girls were hugging


    each other goodbye.

    “Thank you.” She said and took it out of my hands. Giving me a hug, but whispered so quietly in my ear


    that I knew no one else heard it. Congrattions, you will be such a great dad.”


    I gave her an extra squeeze before letting her go. Our eyes met and I knew I didn’t need to respond,


    that she knew my thanks.


    “Ready?” Penny asked, separating us.


    “Yeah.” Kristen walked back to Alec. After a nod to Alec, Penn walked back to the car and got in..


    The tension was thick but I was more focused on how Penny was going to react to this. Jacob didn’t


    mutter a single word, nor did Sherry. The entire drive, was nothing but suffocating silence.
