Chapter 318

of Lizetta had heard these words before, her heart would have felt like it was being sliced open with a

    kife

    N?velDrama.Org owns this text.

But now she knew the true story behind Evelina’s pregnancy, and these words only slightly annoyed

    her.

She looked at April and Evelina, “Evangeline? Not bad.”

Her reaction was so nonchnt, pletely outside of Evelina’s expectations.

Eveline stared at Lizetta, hoping she was just putting on a brave face and that inside, she was in

    excruciating pain

But what she found was that Lizetta genuinely didn’t seem to care.

Evelina’s nails dug into her palm as she forced a smile, “Don’t worry, Liz. New asteroids aren’t exactly

dime a dozen. Next chance we get, Remington will probably name one after you too.”

Listening to her thinly veiled digs, Lizetta thought about how Evelina’s deceitful maniption years ago

had led her to believe Remington was still hung up on his past love.

Without Evelina’s scheming, perhaps there wouldn’t have been so many misunderstandings between

Lizetta and Remington. Lizetta wished she could give Evelina a piece of her mind right then and there.

She shot Evelina a cold look, “Evelina, have the ps from Hanna not faded yet? Are you that eager

    for another round?”

Evelina had been pped several times by Hanna before, leaving her face swollen with nail marks,

now hidden behind a face mask

Hearing Lizetta’s words, she felt her cheeks burn anew.

“You put on such a show to make me believe you and my husband had a thing in Celestia, spreading

those false rumors back home, making people think I stole your man and your happy ending. Carrying

another manis child, yet leveraging my husband’s guilt to try and drive a wedge between us. With all

your plotting, what did you gain? My husband still wouldn’t give you a second nce. Evelina, I’m not

hitting you today, not because you’re not despicable enough, but because I’m considering your unborn

child. My husband has told me everything. Hearing you now, it’s justughable. I’d advise you to stop

lowering yourself. After all, what goes aroundes around. Eventually, that baby will be born, and

what will you do without your shield?”

Lizetta was only holding back because of Quinn, Quinn was a stand–up guy. Once, when Lizetta and

Lucian were fighting as kids, Quinn happened to walk by and even helped Lizetta out, giving her an

    orange candy afterward,

Evelina’s expression froze, and she stared at Lizetta with disbelief and envy.

She couldn’t believe Remington had told Lizetta everything!

Remington had promised to keep it a secret. How could he disclose such crucial matters to Lizetta, that

    little nobody?

Why did he care so much, trust, and value Lizetta?

Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Lizetta made to leave. Evelina, however, couldn’t hold back

    her rage.

“Lizetta, don’t be so smug! Do you think you’ve won? Hah, Remington is only keeping you around for

the baby! He’s hoping that baby can save his little brother’s life. Do you think he loves you? If I’m not

mistaken, he was ready to divorce you and send you packing from Zion City before he knew you were

    pregnant, right?”

Some truths, Lizetta was well aware of, but hearing them from someone else felt like a punch to the

    gut.

The words Remington had said, telling her to nevere back after the divorce, echoed in Lizetta’s

    ears

    once more.

Biting her tongue to distract from the heartache, she refused to let Evelina get to her, “Say whatever

you want. I’ll show you what happiness looks like.”

She stepped out of the elevator with confidence, but Evelina followed, her voiceced with venom and

    smugness.

“Happiness? Lizetta, you’re so na?ve! There’s something your dear Remi definitely hasn’t told you. He’s

been keeping a woman at the Echo Ridge Vi, someone he’s been searching for sixteen years! All

these years, you, Lizetta, were just a stand–in, hah, what a joke!”
