Chapter 295

    “It’s all your fault!”

Lizetta lifted her head from Remington’s embrace with a mix of shame and annoyance, shooting him a

    reproachful re.

She scrambled to get out of bed, in a fluster to open the door for the doctors.

But Remington withdrew his arm from around her lower back and said in a hoarse voice, “Wait a sec.”

Lizetta, visibly irritated, shot back, “Walt for what? If we wait any longer, I’ll have no face left to show!”

Keeping the doc waiting outside the door was like social suicide for her.

However, Remington kept his grip around her waist, murmuring, “If you go open the door now, we’ll

    only end up more embarrassed.”

As he spoke, hisrge hand squeezed Lizetta’s waist a bit, pulling her closer.

    Lizetta instantly blushed, looking away.

Remington was in his flimsy, oversized hospital gown, with certain areas standing out all the more

    prominently.

Perhaps spurred by her gaze, it seemed to swell even more brazenly.

Lizetta felt like she’d been scorched by fire, her face burned as she froze on top of the man, biting her

lip and saying, “Weren’t you injured? How can you still?”

“It’s not that part that got hurt, Remington replied with brazen confidence.

After her sitting on top of him, crying and acting all coquettish, it would be a real issue if he didn’t react.

Lizetta was speechless for a moment, then, with an ostrich–like denial, she pulled the nket over

them, pressing it down on Remington.

“Come on, you hurry up,” she urged, turning her head away, not daring to meet his eyes.

Remington caught a glimpse of her shy, annoyed expression and felt a tightening in his lower

    abdomen.

He thought, “Sometimes, you just can’t control these things, especially when ites to the woman

who makes your heart skip a beat.”

A look of helplessness shed in his eyes as he reached up and gently touched Lizetta’s head, saying,

“No need for you to open the door. Go freshen up in the bathroom.”

She was right before his eyes, and he figured he wouldn’t be calming down anytime soon.

Lizetta, feeling like she’d been granted a reprieve, hopped off the bed and dashed into the bathroom.

Standing in front of the sink, she turned on the faucet and inadvertently caught a glimpse of herself in

    the mirror.

Her reflection showed disheveled hair, a flushed face, swollen eyes and lips, and an alluring afterglow,

as if she’d been thoroughly loved.

Unaware of her own appearance, she recalled how Remington’s first reaction when entering the room

was to press her face into his chest.

No wonder he told her not to open the door and to go freshen up instead.

As Lizetta patted cold water on her face, the heat slowly subsided.

She also remembered how Remington used to be so different – cold and abstinent, hardly touching her

    in two years of marriage.

His current behavior left Lizetta feeling a mix of embarrassment and sweet joy.

It seemed like Remington had changed his ways towards her.

Voices came from outside, the doctors must have entered.

Still concerned about Remington’s injury, Lizetta took a deep breath and stepped out of the bathroom.

“The wound is healing well, luckily the knife just grazed past the edge of the organ. But since the

wound was nearly prating, Mr. Dashiell, you should still rest a lot to prevent reopening or infection,”

the doctor said, ncing at Lizetta towards the end, making her blush despite trying to keepposed.

It felt like the doctor was warning her.

“Also, Mr. Dashiell, you lost a lot of blood, so the family needs to take good care of you. Eat more

nourishing meals to replenish blood. Oh, and the angiography results should be out too. I’ll check them

later, and if there’s no issue, there’s no need to worry.”

Feeling utterly embarrassed, Lizetta quickly said, “I’ll go get them.”

With that, she turned and hurried out of the room, leaving with a swift and flustered exit that made

Remington’s lips curl slightly as he said to the doctor, “Thanks, Dr. Isaac.”

After Dr. Isaac left, the gentle expression on Remington’s handsome face vanished in an instant, and

the atmosphere in the hospital room plummeted dramatically.
