Chapter 1013

Just as Mr. and Ms. West walked in from outside, Remington was leading Liz down the stairs. The tall, elegant, and aristocratic man alongside the stunning, effortlessly beautiful woman made a striking pair. Even Martin West had to admit they looked like a match made in heaven.

Ste had assumed Remington would be alone, and she had been thrilled that he permitted the guards to let them in. She had already concocted a n in her head: she would use the excuse that Ron had fallen asleep and might wake up crying for his aunt in the middle of the night, securing her a stay at Oakridge Heights. Once she managed to stay over, just a man and a woman alone in the house—anything could happen. And even if nothing actually happened, she could easily create the illusion that it had.

But before she could even set her n into motion, she was confronted with an entirely unexpected sight: Lizetta Gardenia.

Why was Liz here thiste at night? And when Ste took a closer look at their attire, her heart turned to ice.

Remington''s shirt was partially wet, and his tailored trousers borerge, dark damp spots. His clothes were noticeably disheveled. Liz was wearing a bathrobe. Though it was tied tightly and covered her well, her slender, bare lower legs left little to the imagination. They looked exactly like a couple who had just finished an intense, steamy session in the bathroom.

Ste''s eyes instantly turned red with a mix of fierce jealousy and burning hatred. She had sensed that the dynamic between Remington and Liz was subtly changing, but didn''t Liz deeply resent him? How had they hooked up again so quickly?

The thought of spending half the day locked in a police holding cell, being repeatedly lectured and reprimanded by officers while z and Remington were here being intimate, made the fake smile on Ste''s face look stiff and grotesque.

"Remington, Dad and I are here to take Ron home," she said to him, then shifted

her gaze to Liz. "Oh, Liz, you''re here too at thiste hour."

Martin''s expression remained neutral. He merely shot Liz a brief nce before sighing heavily and

    turning to Remington. "Reming

had a crucial meeting today. I. find out what happened to Ron until it was over ve be an old fool-I didn''t even realize we had a vicious beast like Anna in our own

home. Little Ron had to suffer so much trauma. I truly must thank you properly this time."

Martin''s face was a portrait of sincere gratitude. His eyes were even rimmed with red, overflowing with heartache and guilt over his young grandson''s ordeal.

Seeing his performance, Liz couldn''t tell if Martin genuinely neglected Ron or not. After all, Ron was his own flesh and blood, the posthumous son of his child, and the only heir to the West family. Perhaps Martin really was just too. old to manage everything and had ced too much trust in Ste.

While Liz was pondering this, Remington''s cool voice broke the silence. "If you truly want to thank me, shouldn''t there be some substantial token of your gratitude?"

Martin froze momentarily, clearly not expecting a man as lofty and untethered as Remington to make such an unusual demand. After all, Remingtoncked absolutely nothing.
