Chapter 956

Andrea''s gaze snapped to Lizetta, expecting panic or at least a flicker of fear. But Lizetta''s face was calm, utterly unruffled there was no trace of anxiety, no hint of distress.

In fact, she lookedpletely at ease, her posture rxed, almost regal.

"Well, I didn''t realize everyone was quite so invested in my personal life—and who I am," she said, lips curling into a wry smile as her voice rang out, clear and steady.

    "That''s right. I am Remington''s ex-wife."

Her tone was bright and unmistakable, not the slightest bit vague or defensive.

Just like that, she admitted it—inly, boldly, her words echoing in the sudden hush.

All around, people sucked in their breath. The stares that fell on Lizetta were a strange mix of curiosity, shock, and mild fascination, as if she''d just revealed she was some rare creature on disy.

"You''re admitting it? You actually... admit it?" Andrea blurted out, unable to hide her disbelief.

This wasn''t at all what she''d expected. How could Lizetta just confess so openly? Lizetta shot Andrea a cool, almost amused nce, a softugh escaping her lips.

"Why wouldn''t I admit it? It''s not as if I''vemitted some crime. I haven''t killed anyone, set anything on fire, or freeloaded off someone else''s charity while refusing to pull my own weight. I''m not some moral degenerate. So tell me what''s there to hide?"

She looked genuinely puzzled, as if she couldn''t fathom why this was even a question, and let her gaze linger on Andrea.

Andrea''s face tightened, her hands clenching at her sides.

Lizetta turned her attention to the rest of the office.

"All I did was get divorced once. Is that such a shameful secret? As for those stories about me scheming my way into someone else''s rtionship or using underhanded tricks to climb the social

Her eyes were clear and steady as she smiled.

"You''re all professionals here-Madden Group only hires the best, after all. I trust everyone''s judgment. I''m sure you know how to separate facts from idle gossip.”

With that, Lizetta offered a polite nod and made her way back to her desk.

It was still working hours, after all, and soon the crowd dispersed, murmuring as they went. Andrea lingered, her expression sour. How could Lizetta be soposed, so immune to all the whispers? It left Andrea feeling small, ridiculous— like the fool at the center of a circus.

As soon as Lizetta sat down, two colleagues from her project team, Mia and Logan, hurried over.

"Lizetta, you know Lilian Snow and her friends no one gossips more than they do. The wholepany knows they twist every story. Don''t let it get to you. We know you''re not that kind of person," Mia said earnestly, shing a nervous smile and nodding hard, as if her sincerity might not be believed.

Logan followed, not saying much, but gestured at Lizetta''s water bottle. "I''m going to

fill this up. Want me to grab you a coffee while I''m at it?"

Lizetta smiled, epting the offer and handing him her mug. "Thanks, Logan."

As Logan headed off, Lizetta reached out and gave Mia''s cheek a gentle pinch. "I''m fine, really. None of this bothers me. Don''t worry."

Seeing how genuinely unbothered Lizetta seemed, Mia gave her a big thumbs up. But her curiosity got the better of her, and she leaned in, eyes gleaming.

“So, Liz, just between us—was it you who dumped Mr. Dashiell?”

Lizetta couldn''t help butugh at Mia''s eager expression. "Why would you think

that? Most people are saying I was the one kicked out, the homewrecker who ended up tossed aside for a socialite."

Mia rolled her eyes. "Oh, please.
