Lizetta shared breakfast with Jerome, as usual.
She had been worried that things might be awkward between them afterst night''s events and that their interactions wouldn''t be as easy as they were before.
But to her surprise, those concerns were unfounded.
Jerome was evidently skilled at managing his emotions and keeping the atmosphere light. Throughout breakfast, he didn''t mention anything about the previous night, carrying on as if nothing had happened at all.
As Lizetta finished her breakfast and got ready to leave for work, Wilma walked in holding a box.
"Miss Lizetta, a driver-looking fellow dropped this off. He said it was a gift for you. He practically shoved it into my hands and then took off like he was afraid I wouldn''t take it. What do you want to do with it?"
Lizetta looked puzzled. She reached out to Wilma, "Let me have a look."
Just as Wilma was about to hand it over, Jerome intervened with a serious tone. "Let me check it first."
Lizetta nced at Jerome, who gave her a reassuring nod. "It''s always better to be cautious."
Jerome obviously had concerns about the content of the package and wanted to ensure it wasn''t anything harmful.
Lizetta thought his caution was unnecessary, but seeing the determination in Jerome''s eyes, she relented with a smile. "Alright, but be careful."
Wilma handed the box to Jerome, who opened the outer cardboard to reveal an elegantly carved mahogany box inside.
"It looks like a gift," he noted.
When he opened the box, he found a delicate jade hairpin nestled in ck velvet. His eyebrows rose.
"It seems I was overly cautious. This

Jerome''s eyes held a knowing gleam, as though he already had a suspicion about the sender.
He handed the box to Lizetta. Her heart skipped a beat as she took it, not yet seeing the contents but already feeling a flutter of excitement.
Last night, Remington had nned to apany her to the auction. However, an incident involving Ynda kept him upied, and he never made it.
The item in the box was likely something Remington had arranged to send her.
Lizetta opened the box, and the sight of the vibrant green hairpin confirmed her suspicions.

As she pondered, her phone rang.
Seeing Remington''s name on the disy, Lizetta picked up the box and stood to take the call.
"Go on and take it," Jerome said with a knowing smile.
Lizetta returned the smile, turning to leave when Jerome added, "Remington''s car was parked outside all night. He might have

Lizetta stopped, surprised, and turned back to Jerome.
"How did you know that?" she asked.
Jerome stood up and walked towards her. "Are you asking how I knew he stayed
