Chapter 944

Remington didn''t react much, and to amodate Lizetta''s height, he even leaned down slightly.

Lizetta managed to grab his ear with ease, feeling triumphant and ready to give it a good tug. But then, in the next moment.

    "Ah!"

She suddenly found herself lifted off the ground. Remington had wrapped his arm around her waist and hoisted her up effortlessly.

Startled, Lizetta let out a small yelp, instinctively releasing his ear and instead clutching onto his neck for support.

She looked down at him as he looked up at her.

The glow from the bedroom''s chandelier cast a soft light, highlighting everysh of his eyes and reflecting Lizetta''s slightly surprised expression in his pupils.

Breaths mingled in the sudden quiet.

"You haven''t exined why you were hugging him, and yet you''re mad at me," Remington finally broke the silence in a low voice.

His tone wasn''t usatory, more like a wounded plea, but his grip on her was firm.

Lizetta felt like her thighs might be squeezed to the point of snapping and found it a bit amusing.

"Does it bother you that much?"

"Of course!" he replied in a muffled voice.

Lizetta raised an eyebrow. "But it seems like you don''t really have the right to be bothered, ex-husband."

The term "ex-husband" made Remington''s handsome face darken slightly.

He genuinely disliked thatbel, a constant reminder that he had lost her and of their divorce.

"But you''ve agreed to let me pursue you! Doesn''t that make me the prospective boyfriend? A prospective boyfriend doesn''t like seeing you getting cozy with other guys."

Seeing his uncharacteristic disy of emotion and anxiety, Lizetta found it intriguing and couldn''t resist teasing him.

    She frowned yfully. "Who said

letting you pursue me means you''re the prospective boyfriend? There are plenty of guys trying to win me over. You''re just another contestant in the evaluation phase

Remington almostughed in exasperation. "So, can other guys hold you like this or even kiss you?"

    His eyes narrowed dangerously.

Lizetta wanted to tease him but also feared pushing him too far. If he lost his cool

and Jerome got involved, it would be awkward.

Softening her gaze, she suddenly leaned down and pressed a kiss to his lips.

Remington froze, staring at her, his mind nk for a moment.

He wondered if the light was too bright, causing a dizzyingck of oxygen, making his feet feel unsteady.

He had never dared to hope she would be so forward with him.

This was not what Lizetta expected

    either. She assumed with

Remington''s usual impulsive behavior, he''d immediately

    reoiprocate. But instead he just

stood there, making her feel like she was kissing a statue.

    Was he really upset?

Thinking this, Lizetta lifted her head, observing his expression closely, a bit embarrassed and annoyed.

"A kiss like that? There''s no one else, I''ve only kissed you, okay? Plus, Jerome confessed to me earlier, and I clearly turned him down. The hug was just polite, nothing more..."

Before she could finish, Remington, like someone released from a spell, blinked rapidly and interrupted her.

    "Did you just kiss me?"

Seeing his dazed expression, Lizetta couldn''t help but chuckle wryly.

She rolled her eyes at him. "Are you asking me? I—"

Before she could finish, Remington captured her lips in a fierce kiss, bis breath hot as he deepened the connection, as if wanting to ens

everything between them was indeed real.
