In the Car.
Lizetta and Ynda were nestled in the back seat, with a giant teddy bear taking up a significant chunk of space beside Lizetta. Ynda had just found out that this bear was yet another gift from Remington, and it made her palms sweat with unease.
It was one thing to deal with a heartbreaker, but a heartbreaker pretending to be sincere? That was a whole different story.
With Remington''s smooth-talking ways, Liz didn''t stand a chance against his charm offensive.
"Liz, are you and Remington...?" Ynda started hesitantly, ncing over at her friend. Lizetta caught her eye and gave Ynda''s cheek a yful pinch.
"Don''t worry about it. I''m not going to fall for his tricks that easily."
There wasn''t much going on between her and Remington at the moment. She had merely agreed to give him another chance, but there was still a long way to go before anything serious happened.
For now, if Remington wanted to make her happy, she''d let him try. But if he ever made her unhappy or brought negative vibes, she''d have no problem showing him the door.
She had her family, the entire Madden n, as her support system. The risk was low, and she wasn''t afraid.
Besides, the idea of epting Remington''s advances just to irk Ste was tempting enough to give it a shot.
"Really? From what I see, Badass Remington is like a new man. He''s practically turned into everyone''s wingman. Don''t let him fool you, Liz!" Ynda insisted.
Lizetta nodded along, but before Ynda could continue, Remington''s tall figure emerged from the vi and quickly approached the car.
Ynda tried to keep her cool and went silent.
He reached the car but didn''t head to the driver''s seat. Instead, he opened the door on Lizetta''s side.
With a casual arm resting on the window, he bent down to address Lizetta.
"Liz, it''s cramped back there. Why don''t you take the passenger seat?"
The big teddy bear was indeed hogging a lot of space, but Lizetta and Ynda were petite enough to fit.
Badass Remington''s intentions were as clear as day, Ynda thought. She quickly wrapped her arm around Lizetta, but before she could protest, Remington added, Margaret had a bit of a fall into the pool fromthe third floor. She might be feeling a bit off. You should sit in the front and let her stretch out in the back."
Hearing Remington call her Margaret so warmly for the first time made Ynda shiver.
While she was still stunned, Lizetta seemed convinced by Remington''s reasoning.
"Yeah, Yoli, lie down in the back and rest. If you start feeling unwell, let me know right away."
Even though the doctor said Ynda was fine, it was better to be safe than sorry. Before Ynda could say another word, Lizetta was coaxed out of the car.
Ynda watched as Remington opened the passenger door, carefully helping Lizetta inside.
Then, she observed as he leaned in to buckle Lizetta''s seatbelt with care, ending with a gentle smile that made Lizetta''s ears turn a suspicious shade of pink.
Ynda thought, "This is bad. Really bad. My friend might just get swept away and end up somewhere like Las Vegas, who knows?"
Determined to stay vignt, Ynda resolved to keep an eye out and be ready to snap Lizetta back to reality.
But then...
Ten minutester.
"There''ll be plenty of big names at
this party directors, producers,
and
famous actors. It''ll be great forworking and Margaret you can join Liz and keep herpany."
From the driver''s seat, Remington passed an invitation to Ynda.
It was for Mr. Temple''s birthday bash three days from now. Ynda wanted to decline, but...
The Temple family''s event was highly prestigious, a golden chance to make connections.
Darn it, it was hard to say no.
"Liz has been away from Zion City for a while, and people tend to gossip. Ms. Miller and Ms. West wi be there too and can''t always be by tz''s side I''d feel better if you could stick with her and look out for her a bit more." s?novels
