Lizetta knew all too well.
Her grandfather had this grand n of her and Jerome hitting it off, hoping they''d naturally end up together.
She couldn''t help but feel a bit resigned, knowing that matters of the heart rarely y by the rules.
Jerome was a great guy, and being with him might very well fit her grandparents'' wishes.
But she just couldn''t muster any romantic feelings for Jerome; maybe her heart had never really been vacant enough.
Even during those months in Tranquil Meadows, when Remington seemed to vanish from her world, she couldn''t find herself drawn to anyone else.
Back in Zion City, it was easy for those old feelings for Remington to reignite.
Lizetta felt a bit pathetic for that, and she had no idea how to face her grandparents just yet.
As she mulled over these thoughts, she grew silent for a moment.
Nelson, however, misread her silence, thinking perhaps something was indeed brewing between her and Jerome.
After all, Lizetta had always been quick to deny any such notion before.
Before she could speak up again, Nelson chuckled warmly.
"Alright, alright, if you don''t want to talk about it, we won''t pry. Take your time getting to know each other. Your grandma and I will just wait for the good news."
Grandma Bernice nodded enthusiastically, adding, "It would be lovely if you and Jerome got along well. I''d be so pleased..."
Before she could finish, there was a loud crash from the balcony.
"Liz, what was that noise?" Nelson asked, surprised.
Lizetta''s heart sank, and she quickly replied, "I think the cat knocked over the nt stand."
"Yoli has a cat now?"
"No, it''s the neighbor''s cat. It likes to
wander around. It''s pretty friendnot
earlier, it came over for some treats s
"Let''s go take a look at this mischievous cat," Nelson suggested. ncing towards the balcony, Lizetta felt her anxiety spike.
With a deep breath, she headed towards the balcony, her heart pounding in her chest.
She contemted faking a fall to drop her phone when suddenly a cat''s meow echoed from the balcony.
Another crash followed as something else toppled over and shattered.
Nelson frowned, "That cat''s causing quite the ruckus. Liz, don''t go in there. Let the housekeeper handle itter."
Worried his granddaughter might get scratched or cut by shattered pieces, Grandpa Nelson advised caution.
Lizetta obediently halted, agreed, and after a few more exchanges, ended the video call.
As soon as the call ended, she rushed to the balcony.
She intended to confront Remington, to ask if teasing her like this was some sort of fun game.
But before she could say a word, she
was swept up by his strong arme
the world spinning around her as her dress red in a graceful arc. s
By the time she regained her bearings,
Remington had her lifteret
off the ground, her legs instinctively wrapping around his lear waist. s
"What are you up to this time?" she asked, eyebrows slightly furrowed as their eyes locked.
