Chapter 2432

"What brings you two here?" Maxim asked Nash and Clint, who stood before him.

Clint and Nash pulled out their identification.

Nash said, "We''re here on behalf of the state capital''s request to observe this gathering."

"Oh? Is that so?" Maxim chuckled. Leuca had already arrived earlier, so he knew these two were not the official representatives from the state capital.

"Gentlemen, if I may speak inly, thepany has already sent other representatives. Having you two here seems redundant, doesn''t it?"

Nash and Clint were well aware that Maxim was not easily fooled. Nash handed his identification back to Maxim.

"Look closely, this carries the official seal of the state capital!"

"Really?" Maxim replied. "From past to present, every Myriad Immortals Gathering has adhered to the rule that each organization will send only one representative. Are you implying that you wish to break that rule?"

"You''re turning the tables, Maxim." Nash red at Maxim, whose expression remainedposed.

"Mr. Calcraft, Mr. Melton, if that''s your attitude, I''m afraid cooperation will be difficult."

    Nash sighed.

"Well then, Maxim, how about we talk about the Young family?"

"Why would I discuss that with you?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Nash, that''s ancient history. We shouldn''t dig it up again."

"Why did you be an exorcist?" Nash suddenly changed the topic.

"How were you able to cleanse the immortals from this entire area? Given your power, do you think you can deceive us? And the reason you''re hosting this gathering... Do you really think you can fool anyone?"

Hearing this, Maxim looked somewhat rattled.

    "What are you talking about?"

"Maxim, your venue is set up as arge magical array, isn''t it?" Nash had figured it out in the first instant. He and Clint arrivedte because they had spent the previous day investigating the venue.

    ...

That night, Clint was busy calcting the positioning of the two arrays.

"Have you found anything?" Nash asked.

    Clint nodded.

"It''s quite fascinating and something I didn''t even consider. It''s odd, really odd."

    "What''s different?" Nash asked, puzzled.

Clint exined, "It''s obvious the venue is capable of absorbing people''s true energy; any sharp eye would notice that. Perhaps Maxim didn''t even try to hide it.

"But when you look at the two magical arrays together, you notice that what seems to be random patterns actually connect."

    "Patterns? What does that mean?"

"It''s like two puzzle pieces. Why do they fit together? Because their edgesplement each other, and the goal of a puzzle is toplete a picture."

"You''re saying... this magical array is actually oneplete design split into parts?"

"Maybe even more than two parts," Clint spected. "These two magical arrays block the energy from the west and south. Based on my theory, Maxim might intend to block all four directions, which means there could be four magical arrays."

"Four magical arrays? What''s the purpose?"

    Clint shook his head.

"I''m not sure. This is a type of magical array I''ve never encountered before, so whatever Maxim is hiding, maybe we can bluff him into revealing it."
