A deafening boom rang out.
Hand grenades sted open theboratory''s locked doors at the main entrance. Fully armed Special Forces members stormed into the building, guns raised.
They conducted a thorough sweep of the premises, inside and out, surrounding the undergroundboratory from all sides.
Outside, subordinates who resisted were shot on the spot, while those wounded were immediately arrested.
Cyrus, themander of the raid under the operation codename "The Dawn", did not remain at the mobilemand centre at the foot of the mountain. Instead, he joined the frontliners in arresting the criminals and rescuing the victims.
"Chief Taylor, we have searched every room in the building, but we haven''t found anyone suspicious."
"Chief Taylor, there''s another door leading to a secret passage two levels below. They have probably escaped through that exit. We have already contacted our colleagues stationed at the foot of the mountain and instructed them to guard all exits there.
"If they encounter any suspicious individuals, they''ll arrest them immediately."
A fierce gleam shed in Cyrus'' eyes as he gave his orders. "Do your best to take them alive. Everyone''s statement is crucial.
"There''s one person we must capture—a woman named Sheryl Gillis. I shared her personal information and photograph during the emergency briefing earlier. You all remember her, don''t you?"
"Yes, we do! This information has been disseminated to the rest of the team as well."
Cyrus surveyed the dim, empty undergroundboratory. The white lights overhead flickered as a draft swept through the corridors.
The air was thick with a revolting cocktail of smells, including the acrid sting of antiseptic mixed with the metallic tang of blood. This was yet another hell on earth, hidden away from the world.
A few Special Forces members ran toward them, panting. With grave expressions, they reported, "Chief Taylor, all the victims are dead. They were each shot in the head. None were spared."
Cyrus'' eyes widened in shock. "What did you say? Not a single survivor?"
The officers lowered their heads, grief and helplessness etched across their faces.
"Fuck!"
Cyrus'' furious roar echoed through the corridor. He rushed into the wards one after another, only to be met with the same horrifying sight-cold corpses of people who had died tragic deaths.
Watching him desperately search for survivors twisted everyone''s stomachs.
They clenched their fists in rage. How had they remainedpletely unaware of such a massive, illegalboratory base on Domere Mountain?
The mastermind behind this ce was a psychopath—a ruthless, bloodthirsty devil. To silence witnesses, they had ughtered dozens of innocent people without hesitation.
It was a monstrous crime. Unforgivable!
Yet Cyrus refused to give up. He continued searching for survivors.
Just as hope began to slip away, he heard a faint, trembling voice from a woman. "H-Help... Help... me..."
Atst, he found a young woman lying on a hospital bed in the innermost ward. She was barely breathing. She had a gunshot wound in her left shoulder, and the bullet had missed her vital organs by mere inches.
He realized the devils must have fled in too much of a hurry to confirm every victim''s death. That was the only reason she had survived their grasp.
"Quick! Get the medics in here now!" Cyrus'' eyes reddened with emotion. "We have a survivor!"
A ck helicopter detoured around the far side of the mountain beforending at a concealed location.
Sheryl leaped from the aircraft, nked by two trusted subordinates. She quickly transferred into a ck vehicle and headed toward Justin''s private manor in Sna City.
"M-Ms. Gillis... What should we do now?" one subordinate asked shakily.
Sheryl''sb coat was stained with dust and blood. The pride she once carried was gone. Disheveled and grimy, she looked as miserable as a stray animal.
I''ll
"You''re asking me? Who the hell am I supposed to ask?" she snapped. "This is all thanks to Remy and that son of a bitch, Number 721 Once get back on my feet, report everything to Mr. Justin. I''ll make sure the whole world hunts them down and tears them apart!"
Her two subordinates lowered their heads, not daring to utter another word. Theboratory base had been wiped outpletely uprooted.
Even though they had extracted the core data and eliminated all experimental subjects, there was no guarantee that the police wouldn''t uncover something during a full investigation.
This time, their organization had suffered a devastating blow-one that might shake its very foundations, perhaps even cripple it for good. Yet they had already boarded this doomsday ark, choosing to align themselves with
the forces of darkness.
They had forfeited the right to choose. All they could do was follow the stunning yet
unhinged woman before them and walk deeper into the abyss.
The unease gnawing at them was the same dread coiling in Sheryl''s heart. A sense of impending doom loomed over her. Her heart pounded violently as she struggled to figure out how she would exin this disaster to Justin.
