Chapter 2477
Be followed Justin into the study.
He closed the door behind them. She neither sat on the sofa nor turned on the light. She simply stood in the shadows, quiet andposed.
Their eyes met. Each gaze shimmered with a rare intensity, hiding emotions tooplex to name. Something lingered in the air-quiet, stirring, and restrained, as if something within them longed to break free but could not.
After a moment, Be gave a faint smile. Her voice was soft. "Mr. Salvador, if you have something to say, please speak. I have other matters tonight, so I can''t stay long."
Her meaning was clear. She did not wish to be alone with him.
A bitter ache stirred in Justin''s chest. His voice came out hoarse. "You didn''t vote against it at today''s board meeting. I want to know if your thoughts align with mine."
Be lowered hershes. Her reply was calm. "You didn''t oppose Grant bing president because you still cannot see his true intention. If you wish to understand his n, you must first meet his demands. Raise him up and ce him under the spotlight. Only then will you see his moves with rity. Otherwise, he will remain an insatiable serpent, crawling in the dark. You will never predict what he''ll do next."
Justin''s eyes widened. His heart skipped a beat. Yet he kept his emotions in check. "Yes. That is exactly what I was thinking."
The rare feeling returned-no one else understood him like she did, and no one ever had.
"But there is one thing you are wrong about." Justin stepped closer. The distance between them vanished.
Be''s breath caught. "What is it?"
"Even if Grant bes president, he will never be satisfied." He looked deep into her eyes. His voice was steady and slow. "What he wants is to devour the entire Salvador Corporation. Perhaps, thispany is just a stepping stone. He wants more. He wants all of Savrow under his feet."
Be''s expression grew serious as she gave him a small nod of understanding.
She was an ambitious woman and had always admired those with courage and vision, those who dared to gamble everything. If Grant had taken a path of honor, she might have respected him. They might even have be friends. But he had done what she could never forgive. He had wounded the people she loved over and over again.
"I heard rice has been released on bail." Justin''s face darkened. "She is Grant''s pawn, and she holds a grudge against both of us. For now, let Steven keep a close watch. Your safetyes first."
Be gave a faint smile, neither agreeing nor objecting.
Amelia was about to give birth, so Steven would not leave his wife''s side. Be had also given him a few days off because she did not want to burden him. She did not want danger near their small, fragile family.
Be had always known how to protect herself. Even before Justin came into her life, she had walked this path alone.
"If troublees, promise me you will reach out." Justin exhaled deeply. His voice softened with care as he could not set aside his concern.
Be paused. Her smile bloomed like a midnight rose, delicate and radiant.
Just as Justin turned to leave, Be spoke again, her voice low. "Mr. Salvador, have you never questioned rice''s true identity?"
He froze. "Do you have a lead?"
"Rosalind Gold." Her lips parted. A name long buried slipped into his ears. "You haven''t forgotten her, have you?"
Justin stiffened. A cold chill spread through his limbs.
Meanwhile, in Grant''s private vi, rice stormed into the room, her face full of anger. "Sir, Jace ispletely out of control! He tried to go after Yvonne! What kind of joke is that?!"
Grant sat in his wheelchair, with his wrist propped against his chin. His fingertips tapped lightly at his temple. "Oh? That sounds entertaining. A younger brother falling for his sister-inw? Watching them turn on each other might be fun."
rice was left speechless. Grant''s mind never followed logic, at least not one she understood.
As silence fell, Grant casually tossed a file in front of her.
"There''s a proper solution to the severe side effects of the Crystal Icepound we developed. A research institute in Meridan found a reliable way to suppress them."
rice flipped through the documents. Her eyes widened. "What? Already?!"
Grant sipped his tea slowly. "Ordinary people might take five, even eight years. Maybe longer. But the one who developed this is a genius."
rice leaned in. "Who is it?!"
"There''s no rush." A faint smile yed on Grant''s lips. "Let me introduce you to an old friend first."
