Chapter 2444
The lights in the emergency room flickered off and the door swung open as the doctor stepped out, removing his mask.
M immediately rushed forward, her face filled with anxiety. "Doctor, how is my son?!"
"Madam M, you were lucky to bring him in when you did. Another ten minutes, and we might not have been able to save him."
The doctor breathed a sigh of relief. "He was in shock from blood loss, but he''s stable now. I gave him a transfusion and stitched up his wounds. He''ll need plenty of rest and time to recover."
M felt a wave of relief wash over her, as if the weight on her chest had been lifted. She broke into a cold sweat. "Thank goodness... Thank goodness!"
After the doctor left, she immediately instructed the driver to buy the best supplements, regardless of cost.
Still unaware of the real reason behind M''s actions, the driver remarked, "Madam M, you are really kind to help him to the very end."
He had only worked for the family for two years and assumed she was just being kind- hearted.
M lowered her gaze, a bitter smile curling on her lips. "You don''t understand. I''m paying a debt."
Still confused, the driver left to buy the supplies.
Jace was transferred to the best VIP room in the hospital. M stayed with him, never leaving his side.
"Hugh... is it you?" M murmured repeatedly, tears blurring her vision. "How did this happen? What happened to you, son... How could you end up like this?"
The grief she had carried for years and the sorrow of losing her own son burst out in that moment, finding an unexpected release through Jace.
In a way, Jace had be her sce.
Suddenly, Jace''s forehead was drenched in a cold sweat, and his pale, cracked lips parted. " Mom..."
"Son, what did you say?" M''s eyes widened in surprise as she leaned in closer to him. "Mom... Mom..." His words were slurred and faint, but they rang out clearly to M. She grabbed his cold, rough hand tightly, tears streaming down her face.
"I''m here, child... I''m here!"
Even if Jace only looked like his son, at this moment, she would dly ept him as her own child!
Jace seemed to be trapped in a nightmare. He was still unconscious, but his fingers curled as he gently squeezed M''s hand. He muttered, "Can I... Live... In the light... Too?"
M didn''t quite understand but nodded through her tears. "Yes, of course! As long as you want to!"
Jace did not respond and drifted back into sleep.
But despite being unconscious, the corners of his lips curled into a serene smile.
The grand banquet hall had been transformed into a conference room, rge enough to hold hundreds of people.
Nearly every media outlet from across the country was gathered below the stage. Reporters set up theirptops, adjusted cameras, and prepared for the live broadcast. All of them were waiting for the new president of Salvador Corporation to make his appearance. The door swung open, and all eyes turned to Grant as he walked confidently to the podium, sharply dressed in a suit.
He bowed before the microphone, his voice warm and humble.
"Thank you, everyone, for taking the time out of your busy schedules to attend this press conference. I apologize for taking up public resources, and I offer my sincere apologies on behalf of Salvador Corporation.
"The press conference today is mainly to address the recent drug scandal involving my younger brother, Justin, the former president of Salvador Corporation. I believe I must step forward and provide a unified statement to the public."
A reporter raised his hand and asked, "Why are you the one speaking on behalf of your brother? Shouldn''t Justin, as the one involved, be here to exin himself?"
A murmur spread through the crowd as frustration built over Justin''s habit of avoiding responsibility.
"He is currently unavable to appear in public. He''s been dismissed from his position and is no longer a part of Salvador Corporation. There''s no reason for him to be here."
Immediately, the doors of the banquet hall were forcefully pushed open.
"Who said so?!" A powerful andmanding voice rang out, immediately drawing everyone''s attention.
