I swallowed the painful lump in my throat as I felt guilty to have been talking about him behind his back.
“Hello-Norman,” I said, hoping I didn’t sound as guilty as I felt.
“If you
have a question, you cane to me for rification,” he said in a calm tone, but it felt like a threat and I swallowed hard as I nodded.
But somehow, I still wasn’t convinced. It felt as if there was something else between them, something serious enough that he wanted to hide from both Eve and me.
The way he stood at the door, it felt like he had something he wanted to say to Eve and was waiting for me to leave.
“I’ll be in the living room,” I stated as I dropped the dish I was holding and walked slowly out of the kitchen, having the thought to stay behind and eavesdrop on them.
I decided against it as it would seem weird to be caught eavesdropping.
I went to the sitting room to see Giselle and Rn engrossed in a conversation. The conversation felt so intense that it felt like they were even quarreling.
I felt out of ce. Norman and Eve were having a conversation, the same with Giselle and Rn. I sat in the corner as I watched them, thinking about my
children.
Rick would be fine, I knew it, I just had to quickly figure out a way to get him away from Silverpine. I didn’t care about bing Luna or trying to clear my name, I didn’t even want to stay in Silverpine anymore. I just wanted to take my children and get out of there.
I also had to find my father quickly, it was hard to refer to him as that. Up until a few weeks ago, I would punch anyone who told me that my father wasn’t Glenn Müller, but the Lycan king.
Only he could help me, he would tell me all I needed to know about my powers. I gasped as I suddenly realized something. I wasn’t from a lowly family as they thought, rather, I was from an illegitimate daughter of a prominent family.
“Are you okay?”
“What are you thinking about that’s got you all riled up like this?”

My eyes shut up to meet two pairs of eyes. Giselle and Rn. I was so lost in thought that I didn’t see them stand up from there, my gasp must’ve gotten their
attention.
“I’m fine,” I said as I straightened my legs.
“How long have you ever been here?” Rn questioned, plopping down beside me. Giselle too joined him.
“I don’t know–the two love move birds needed space and I came here—,” I exined.
“Are you thinking of the children?” Giselle questioned, looking concerned and I sniffed, averting my gaze.
“I prayed to the goddess to keep them safe,” I said and Rn scoffed.
“Didn’t seem like you were praying to me,” he pointed out and I rolled my eyes. He wanted me to reveal something to him and I would never make the mistake of revealing my recently found origins to him.
“What do you know about Selene?” I asked instead, trying to change the conversation.
“Selene?” he questioned with furrowed brows.
“Selene De forte,” I stated as my eyes Giselle’s. I had been thinking about it and she was someone who also held grudges for Rielle.
He chuckled. “The Selene?”
“Yes, her. Do you know where she is right now?” I questioned. After all, he said he knew the right people and the right ces to go if he needed to find a person.
“Why do you need to find her?” He questioned with furrowed brows and nced at Giselle who didn’t seem even a bit surprised.
“All of a sudden? and Gis, do you know about it? what exactly am I missing here?” he questioned with furrowed brows and she shrugged.
“She hates Rielle as much as I do-as we do, I don’t think we’d ever be freed from her if we don’t fight her and we need–”
“So you’re saying, you want to find Selene in order to fight Rielle?,” he questioned and I nodded.

“Do you realize that she is considered a traitor of Silverpine? An enemy? She narrowly escaped the death sentence because she fled!,” he pointed out and I shrugged.

“Aren’t we all considered traitors of Silverpine?” Even you, after all Giselle got charged for being a traitor because she was talking to me. You, on the other hand, broke us out of the cell-even killing some guards,” I stated.
Giselle gasped and I turned to face her. Her hands flew to her mouth as she nced between me and Rn.
I narrowed my eyes at her and then sighed as realization suddenly dawned on me.
“Is it true?” she questioned as she looked from me to Rn.
I shrugged and Rn sighed.
“There was no choice,” he said, nonchntly and I shook my head in denial.
“You didn’t need to have told him to lie to us. I understand that you had to do.”
did what you
I had known that the guards weren’t just unconscious, they were dead. I could recognize that smell anywhere. Arsenic. I knew they were dead as soon as I saw them.
“Why didn’t you say anything?,” Giselle questioned and I folded my arms defensively.
“What should I do? We were leaving the cell and I didn’t want to stay back because of some guards.

“But taking innocent lives-,” shemented and I rolled my eyes.
“I don’t care about that!” I yelled and she winced.
“Would you rather we stay back there and let whatever Rielle had in mind for us happen? I can’t. I have to survive, for my children!” I looked at her face and she wasn’t saying anything.
“And I was actually scared too, but I knew I had to leave there.” I finished and she sighed.
“Anyway, about Selene-,” he cleared his throat as he began.
I sat up eagerly. “Yes.”
O
“I’m sorry I can’t help you,” he finished and I paled.
