Chapter 948: Chapter 948: It’s Not Good for Us Either

"Here you go." Uncle Thompson handed the medicine he bought back to Scarlett Yates. "Take it as instructed. Although I’ve only promised Matthew Saxon to ensure your safety, if he sees you looking like you’re about to die and gets angry, it won’t benefit us."
Scarlett Yates hesitated for a moment, took the medicine, and didn’t thank him.
She knew that if it weren’t for Matthew Saxon, Uncle Thompson wouldn’t care about her life or death. He wouldn’t be kind enough to buy her medicine.
But she indeed felt unwell, with a headache so severe it felt like it would split her head open. She didn’t care whether Uncle Thompson’s concern was genuine or insincere. She skimmed through the instructions briefly and swallowed the medicine.
After taking the cold medicine, she felt a bit better, but her eyelids grew increasingly heavy.
Most cold medicines contain some sleep-inducing ingredients. By the time they reached the airport, Scarlett Yates couldn’t stop yawning.
Before getting out of the car, Uncle Thompson nced at her. "We’re about to board the ne. If you want to sleep, wait until you’re on the ne."
Hearing the word ’boarding,’ Scarlett Yates felt invigorated, and her sleepiness faded considerably.
Could she finally return to Z City?
"Uncle Thompson, could you return my phone? I want to call Senior Brother Dales." After getting out of the car, Scarlett Yates remembered that she hadn’t contacted Henry Dales since she was kidnapped.
Uncle Thompson had taken her phone and hadn’t returned it until now.
She didn’t know if Henry Dales had been searching for her after discovering she disappeared, but knowing his intellect, seeing Matthew Saxon back in Seymour, he probably assumed she had returned to Z City.
"Why are you calling him?"
"I’ve been staying at his ce in Fort City. Now that I’m leaving, I should at least let him know."
Uncle Thompson frowned slightly but agreed to her request.
After all, he had achieved his goal and had nothing left to worry about.
Once she got her phone back, Scarlett Yates turned it on and saw thirty unread messages and dozens of missed calls.
She checked the time; the messages and missed calls were all from the night she disappeared.
After that night, there were no more missed calls, only one long message.
After reading the message, Scarlett Yates realized that Henry Dales indeed called Matthew Saxon after seeing the news of his return to Seymour.
Matthew Saxon told him that she had returned safely to Z City and thanked Henry Dales for taking care of her and reimbursed him the auction fee of one hundred million.
The message ended with Henry Dales saying he couldn’t attend her and Matthew Saxon’s wedding but sincerely wished them happiness.
Scarlett Yates dialed a number, thought for a moment, then hung up before it connected.
Eventually, she sent a message to Henry Dales.
--
Aboard the ne, Scarlett Yates grew increasingly sleepy and fell asleep before takeoff.
It was an exceptionally long sleep.
Because when Scarlett Yates opened her eyes again, she was no longer on the ne.
Her vision gradually cleared, and the surroundings became distinctly visible.
The air was filled with a pleasant and familiar scent.
In a familiar room, Scarlett Yates saw a familiar figure. A tall silhouette stood by the window, sunlight streaming in, illuminating his head and shoulders, making his already sleek and shiny short ck hair even more luminous.
