1595 Last Will and Testament (Part I)
The next morning, the sky was overcast. Thick clouds concealed the sun. Lightning shed and thunder bellowed. There was a light drizzle, but with how the bitingly cold wind was picking up, the rain might start pouring soon.
Today''s weather was theplete opposite of yesterday''s.
Iris and Jin Liwei weed thewyer in the front hall. He was Grandma Li''swyer, so Iris wasn''t very familiar with him.
The husband and wife led thewyer inside the family house''s library.
The library hadn''t been updated for so long. Ever since Jin Liwei''s grandfather and father died, nobody used it anymore as an office. Jin Liwei had also long built his own ptial mansion and moved out.

Iris looked around the library and felt itchy. She wanted to renovate it, restore the poor unused books, and then buy more books to fill some of the empty shelves.
However, she knew that this wasn''t the right time. Huang Yuyan might treat her well right now, but she didn''t want to encroach on her mother-inw''s territory.
What if Huang Yuyan felt offended by Iris'' desire to renovate the library?
Although Iris had good intentions, her mother-inw might think that Iris couldn''t wait to kick her out of the Jin family house and be the only mistress of the Jin n. Iris would never want to destroy her good rtionship with her mother-inw.
Huang Yuyan and Jin Chonglin were already waiting in the library. Grandpa Lu was also present to act as a witness. Nobody questioned his presence at all. To all of them, he was a part of their family.
When everyone was seated around the table, the tension somehow became heavier. Everyone watched as thewyer opened his briefcase to arrange the documents needed to be read today.
Thewyer cleared his throat. "On behalf of Li Zhiruo, I, as herwyer, will now read herst will and testament."
Iris held her husband''s hand. His hand was colder than normal. He must be more nervous than she first thought.
She nced at the others.
Grandpa Lu appeared to have regained a portion of his previous energetic self. At least, his eyes didn''t look as dull and exhausted as in recent days. Iris felt relieved. He caught her looking at him and smiled at her. She smiled back.
Next, she nced at her mother-inw. Huang Yuyan lost a lot of weight. Herplexion remained immacte due to her religious intensive skincare regimen, but her eyes remained bloodshot caused by crying too much.
Sitting beside her was her youngest son, Jin Chonglin. He didn''t care that they were indoors and that the only people present were his family members. He still continued to wearrge, dark sunsses to conceal his eyes. Like his mother and brother, he also lost a lot of weight. The hollows of his cheekbones had be more prominent.
Iris sighed on the inside. She knew that Jin Chonglin was upset that he wasn''t able to bring Chen Fei inside for the reading of Grandma Li''sst will and testament. However, he couldn''t do anything about it.
Thewyer had specifically given them a short list in advance of the people Grandma Li wanted to be present during the reading of herst will and testament. Chen Fei wasn''t on the list which was understandable because she hadn''t married Jin Chonglin yet.
Iris couldn''t help her brother-inw this time.
All of them wanted to respect Grandma Li''s final wishes. If the olddy only wanted them to be present, then it would only be them present. Nobody else.
Thewyer cleared his throat and began reading. There was a long introduction with a lot of legal terms.

Tears flowed down her eyes.
"Mom, I miss you so much," she cried, pressing her face against her youngest son''s shoulder.
Jin Chonglin patted her shoulder.
"Take back the inheritance. I don''t want it anymore! Juste back, Mom!"
Iris squeezed her husband''s hand. She had the urge to stand up andfort her mother-inw but didn''t want to disrupt thewyer too much. The faster thewyer read thest will and testament, the quicker this would all be over.
She wasn''t sure about her brother-inw, but she knew that her mother-inw didn''t really care much about the inheritance left by Grandma Li. Iris also didn''t expect to get anything.
As for her husband, Iris knew that Jin Liwei was also fine not getting anything. He was already the wealthiest in the family. Anything that Grandma Li would leave him wouldn''t really add anything substantial to his already massive wealth.
However, she knew that Jin Liwei would still feel happy to receive something. It was from his grandmother after all.
Iris paid attention again. Thewyer began reading the next paragraphs.
