The thought that Theresa was still alive sent another uncontroble wave of excitement through Evangeline, and she lowered her voice to tell him.
As she expected, a sh of surprise lit up Glenn''s eyes upon hearing the news.
Evangeline knew what he wanted to ask. "She''s doing well now," she said.
"We were only able to get back thanks to her."
She wanted to say more, but Glenn raised a hand, gesturing for silence. "As long as she''s okay," he said.
He nced around the room.
Walls have ears.
And while he trusted Finn, he didn''t trust the other members of the Lockridge family. Right now, he couldn''t even fully trust Arabe.
Evangeline understood his hesitation and said no more.
She had deliberately kept her voice low, so Arabe hadn''t overheard, but from the subtle expressions on their faces, she could guess they were being wary of her. Arabe had no particr curiosity about other people''s little secrets.
But she still felt a bit annoyed.
She walked over to Glenn, looking at him while shaking her head and letting out several heavy "tsks."
Glenn felt his skin crawl under her sharp sounds.
Evangeline looked on, equally confused.
Just as they thought Arabe was about to say something, she walked past them without a backward nce and went straight upstairs.
She left the two of them standing there, bewildered.
Finn, realizing Arabe was intentionally getting back at them for theirck of trust, just smiled helplessly. He gave them a nod and followed her upstairs.
The small interruption quickly passed, and Glenn proceeded to update Evangeline on everything that had happened in Serenity City over the past few days.
UME and the factory were both running smoothly.
Everything was progressing ording to her n. After pivoting the smart robots to a new market, sales were steadily increasing, and their influence was growing.
One of the production lines at the factory was nowplete and ready to start operations.
Evangeline had been worried something might go wrong all this time, and hearing the good news, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Next, Evangeline learned that Glenn had submitted the evidence and reported Poppy to the authorities, and that Poppy was currently out on bail with the help of the Fawkes family.
Ever since she found out Poppy was pregnant, Evangeline had prepared for the worst-case scenario: that Soren and the Fawkes family would do everything them power to protect Poppy for the sake of the child.
But knowing it was one thing; hearing it confirmed now still brought a pang of disappointment.
Glenn saw her sadness and said, "Don''t worry. This will be resolved soon."
Over the past few days, the Fawkes family had been working hard to suppress the story, while he had been almost entirely focused on finding
he unwilling to go
with them:
Now that Evangeline was back, he had no more reservations.
"Soren has been making enemies everywheretely, and the other families in Serenity City are already showing signs of resistance. The evidence of Poppy''s crimes and the negative press will get out sooner orter."
“If the Fawkes family insists on protecting Poppy, the other families will eventually
use it as an excuse to team up against them."
Helena didn''t know much about business, but she desperately wanted Soren to have his own child to inherit everything from the Fawkes family.
Now that Poppy was carrying Soren''s child, she had reluctantly epted her as a daughter-inw and naturally wanted Poppy to give birth without any trouble.
She tried her best to hide the situation from Soren, reminding him to focus on his recovery and prepare for the engagement.
But there are no secrets that can be kept forever, and Soren soon found out anyway.
"So, is the evidence real?" Soren asked Helena, his voice cold.
