Her voice was icy and sharp, making it clear she wasn''t ying around.


    Hank nodded fast, almost tripping over his own words. "I get it. I''ll handle everything inside thepany right away. The project won''t be affected. You have my word."


    When she saw the relief on his face, Reese couldn''t help the small smile that tugged at her lips. She wasn''t only helping the Meyer family to keep Joseph from getting what he wanted. Part of it was for her mom, Marie. Vista Tech was thepany her mom and Bailey had built together, filled with her mother''s hard work and all those memories. She couldn''t let Joseph ruin it. She just couldn''t let her mom''s life''s work go to waste.


    "Where''s the share transfer agreement?” Reese asked, changing the subject.


    Hank immediately opened a drawer and handed her the paperwork. "Everything''s ready. Take a look. If it''s all good, you can sign right here."


    Reese took the agreement and flipped through it. It clearly stated that Bailey was transferring fifteen percent of his shares in Vista Tech to her. Everything was in order. No tricks, no hidden uses. She looked it over onest time, then picked up a pen and signed her name. Her handwriting was strong and confident.


    She put her copy of the agreement in her bag. “If there''s nothing else, we''ll head out."


    Matthew stood with her and took her hand without thinking, a natural, intimate gesture that made it obvious they were together.


    Hank walked them to the door, his face shining with gratitude. "Reese, thank you for being willing to help the Meyer family right now." After Bailey got scammed he''d tried


    calling their old partners for help, but nobody wanted to get involved.


    Reese didn''t look back. She just waved a hand, her voice cool and even. "No need


    to thank me. Just follow the contract."


    They left the office side by side and


    headed down the hallway to the elevators. As they passed the open workspace, plenty of employees nced up, sneaking curious looks at Reese and Matthew, trying to figure out what was going on.


    Reese ignored all the stares and stepped straight into the elevator. The doors slid


    shut behind them, shutting out the rest of the world.


    Matthew looked over at her, his eyes warm and gentle. "That''s it. Ready to get some Japanese food?"


    Reese looked up at him, a real smile touching her lips, and her eyes softened. "Yeah."


    Just as the elevator doors opened, Matthew''s phone started to ring. He checked the caller ID. It was Karter.


    "Boss, I just heard from the Ratcliff Global board. Joseph''s calling an emergency shareholders'' meeting Looks like he''s trying to get himself elected chairman as fast as possible, since he thinks you''re still out of the picture."
