Grace was the reason she could hold her head high in the Meyer family. Grace made this wholefortable life possible. Now Grace was in trouble, and just like that, her safety was gone.
What scared her even more was how Bailey and Hank''s attitude toward her had changed overnight. Before, if something big happened, Hank would call right away, no matter how busy he was, just to check in and make sure she was okay. But now, days had slipped by, and she hadn''t heard a single word from him. Not even a short text. She didn''t even find out about Grace''s arrest from them-it was some stranger who gave her the news. Neither Bailey nor Hank had bothered to reach out.
That could only mean one thing. Had she lost all her value to the Meyer family? Had they already written her off?
She''d gotten so used to living like this, pampered and protected, that she''d forgotten how hard it used to be those early days when she''d always felt like an outsider, always trying to read the room, afraid to step out of line. There was no way she was going back to that.
"No... no way, I''m not going back to that life," Sofia murmured, shivering at the thought. "I have to figure something out. Maybe I should go back home for a bit."
At the very least, she needed to see for herself where she stood with Bailey and Hank. But the truth was, without the Meyer family, she didn''t have anyone else in the country to lean on.
That thought made her hesitate, but then her eyes hardened.
This was all Reese''s fault. If Reese hadn''t meddled, Grace wouldn''t be in jail, and Sofia wouldn''t be sopletely alone right now.
She stood up and started pacing her apartment, back and forth, like a wild animal trapped in a cage. Outside, the night was deep and the city lights flickered, but none of it could push away the darkness clouding her mind.
Suddenly, a loud knock at the door broke the silence. Sofia froze, her face going pale.
Who would show up at this hour? Was it someone from Bailey and Hank, ing to check on her atst? Or maybe someone Grace had sent?
The knocking came again, harder this time.
"Ms. Meyer, I know you''re in there."
The voice was deep, smooth, and carried easily through the door.
"I''m not here to hurt you. I came to help."
Sofia''s heart was pounding. She had no idea who he was, or if she should even open the door. Still, there was something in his voice, something. that made her want to trust him just Tittle. Content Belongs to
She took a shaky breath and walked to the door, peeking through the peephole. There was a man outside, maybe in his forties, dressed in a sharp suit that looked expensive and fit him perfectly. He stood tall, calm, and confident, like someone used to being in control.
His face was striking, with strong features and eyes that seemed to see right through her. Behind him, two big m?n in ck suits waited silently their expressions unreadable, giving off an

unmistakable “don''t mess with us" vibe.
Even with a door between them, Sofia could feel the power this man carried.
She didn''t know him. She had no idea what he wanted.
"Who... who are you?" Her voice shook as she spoke through the door.
The man gave a slight, calm smile. His tone was gentle, but there was no room for argument.
"Open the door. I know what you''re going through. I can help you get home. I can fix everything."
