Chapter 261

Zach''s face softened for a split second when he noticed how bruised and shaken Tara was. He bent down, his voice unusually gentle. "Alright. We''ll do it your way. No police."

Then he looked up at Reese, uncertainty flickering in his eyes. After a long pause, his tone cooled. "Reese, you''d better hope Tara and the baby are both fine. If not, I''m not letting this slide."

He didn''t wait for a response. Carefully, he picked Tara up and turned to his assistant, barking, "Why are you just standing there? Call an ambnce!"

The assistant snapped into action, grabbing his phone to dial for help. Guests around them shuffled aside, parting to make space as Zach hurried past with Tara in his arms. All eyes followed him, some curious, others suspicious, most of themnding on Reese.

She barely seemed to notice. Instead, she watched Zach disappear with Tara, her lips twisting into a cold smile.

Zach''s words made one thing clear: he knew what the Ramos family had been up to all these years. No wonder Tara had panicked and put on such a dramatic show in front of everyone.

But no matter how ruthless Tara was, she was still a woman. Would she really use her own unborn child to frame someone?

The thought left Reese unsettled. Unless... there was something wrong with the baby from the start.

Sirens wailed in the distance, getting closer with every second.

Standing at the entrance, Reese watched paramedics and Zach gently load Tara into the ambnce before speeding away to the hospital.

"Should we follow?" Matthew asked, ncing at Reese. "If your cousin tries to put this on you, Zach might not let it go so easily."

"No," Reese answered, shaking her head. "I didn''t do anything. If I follow them now, it''ll just look suspicious."

She hesitated, her voice dropping. “Besides, Zach''s never let me off the hook anyway."

First he hated her for marrying Sebastian. Then, after learning the truth about the past, he just wouldn''t leave her alone. Even if he knows she didn''t push Taras he really going to cut her out of his lifefor good? Probably not.

"But I''m not about to just take the me for this," she said, her eyes steely.

Matthew understood right away. "So, what''s your n?"

Reese thought for a second. "Can you help me get Tara''s medical records?"

"The sooner the better. We have to move before the Ramos family does."

She knew it was possible to get to the bottom of what was going on with Tara''s pregnancy. Last time she was at the hospital, the Ramos

family managed to cover everal ne

up and kept Sebastian in the dark. They clearly had

    connections

    Reese''s ownwork couldn''t

He frowned, thinking it over. "Medical records are private. I can''t just take a look. But if we make an official request, say it''s to help investigate the ident, we might get them."

Matthew looked at her, his voice calm and steady. "I''ll handle it. Don''t worry."

Reese met his eyes, a rare warmth flickering through her guarded expression.

If it were anyone else, they wouldn''t have stepped up for her or believed her without question. Matthew''s trust and support felt like a ray of light breaking through the chill in her heart.

    "Thank you," she said quietly.

Tara left and Zach did not n to press charges, so the crowd slowly drifted away.

Some people still nced back at Reese, whispering as they left.

Matthew stepped in front of her, blocking their stares. "Too many people, too much gossip. Let''s get out of here. We''ll figure out our next move once we have those records."

"Yeah," Reese agreed, sticking close to Matthew as they slipped out of the venue together.
