Grace frowned at Sofia''s message. Why is Reese getting suspicious about this now?


    She tapped her fingers on the coffee table, eyes sharp and cold. After thinking for a moment, she grabbed her phone and dialed a number she didn''t recognize.


    The call connected. A rough male voice answered, "Hello?"


    "It''s me." Grace''s tone was icy. "I know you''ve been out for a while. You need to keep your head down. Find somewhere to hide out, and honestly, you''d better start living under a different name."


    "Why?" the man asked, sounding confused. "Wasn''t all that stuff over and done with?"


    He''d spent more than ten years in prison for that money. Now that he was finally free, why should he have to keep hiding?


    "Someone''s looking into the ident from back then. She''s already started questioning me."


    Grace could tell he was hesitant, so her voice turned even colder. "If you don''t want to get caught, do what I say. If anyone finds out you took money for that job, we''re both finished. Got it?"


    "...Alright. I understand."


    At the same time, Reese was just parking her car when her phone rang- Roman''s name shed on the screen.


    "Ms. Meyer, I''ve gone through your mother''s ident files. I found the driver who caused it.""His name is Alex. He killed your mother while driving drunk. He was sentenced to neen years but got out a few years ago for good behavior. He''s living in Greenville now.

    She stepped into the elevator and checked the message.

    Reese paused, her eyes darkening. A cold, mocking smile tugged at her lips.


    Grace. Of course it was her. There was no way she wasn''t involved in what happened back then.


    She needed to go to Greenville. She needed to meet Alex, the man who killed her mother.


    But her divorce hearing was in three days. Right now, nothing was more important than breaking things off with Sebastian.


    She''d just have to wait until the divorce was final before she went.


    Thinking it over, she stepped out of the elevator and called George.


    "George, send two people to Greenville to keep an eye on Alex Once my divorce is sorted, I''m going to see him. And check what Grace was up to around the time Alex g?t out of prison."


    "Understood, Ms. Meyer. I''ll get on it right away."


    She ended the call and instantly felt two sets of eyes on her. She looked up.


    Standing at her apartment door were two people, one tall and one small.
