Chapter 150

Today, Jane actually picked on a kid. That crossed a whole new line.

Besides, Reese had already made up her mind about divorcing Sebastian. At this point, Jane was just a stranger to her.

"Oh, I''m the one who''s out of line now?"

All these years, Reese had always gone easy on Jane, and that had only spoiled her, making her even more reckless. Now, for the first time, Reese pushed back, and Jane looked like she''d been struck by lightning. She stormed forward, jabbing a finger right at Reese''s face.

"Everyone knows you''re the real bitch here, Reese! Back then, you drugged Sebastian, slept with him, and forced your way into my family. Now, with the old man behind you, you think you can do whatever you want. The second Sebastian gets close to another woman, you get rid of the baby and threaten him with divorce. Now that the old man''s in the hospital over all this, you show up pretending you care. Afraid you''ll lose your shield if he''s gone, huh?"

Reese watched Jane''s hysterics and almostughed out loud. A cold smile tugged at her lips.

"You''re right. I am threatening Sebastian with divorce. And when I do, I''ll make sure to walk away with most of his money. So, Jane, you do the math. If Sebastian loses half his fortune, do you really think you''ll still be the queen bee of your fancy little circle? Think your socialite friends won''tugh behind your back?"

Jane was trembling with rage. She raised her hand, aiming to p Reese across the face.

But Reese saw iting a mile away. She pulled Annie behind her and sidestepped neatly. Jane''s hand sliced through nothing but air, and she stumbled forward. Reese managed to dodge the hit, but her knee mmed into the cold metal bench, turning bright red in seconds.

    She hissed in pain.

"No!" Annie cried out, her little face confused and scared.

To Annie, it just looked like Jane was bullying Reese and had pushed her into the bench. Tears spilled down her cheeks instantly. "Don''t bully her!"

    "Reese!"

Just then, Matthew hurried out of the elevator. The second he saw Reese''s swollen knee and Annie''s tear-stained face, his expression darkened.

He stepped in front of Reese and Annie, shielding them both with his body as he red at Jane. His voice was so cold it could''ve frozen the whole hallway.

“Jane, Sebastian''s father is lying in that hospital room, and you''re out here hurting Reese? Have you lost your mind?"

Jane shrank back a little, intimidated by Matthew''s fury, but she still tried to hold her ground.

"Me? I''m the one out of line?"

Her gaze bounced between Matthew and Reese. Suddenly, something seemed to click, and her face went red.

"Oh, I get it now. That''s why you got rid of Sebastian''s baby and keep threatening him with divorce. You''ve been sneaking around with this bastard the whole time, haven''t you? Can''t wait to dump Sebastian and shack up with him?"

Matthew''s jaw tightened. His fists clenched at his sides, knuckles white. He was

about to bite back, but Reese stepped forward, brushing his arm aside as she stared Jane down.

"Jane, if you keep spreading rumors like that, I''ll call the police. I didn''t even know Matthew when I made that decision."

"Do you want to know why I did it? It''s because Sebastian-"

    "For me? Because of what?"

Sebastian''s voice cut through the tension as he strode out of the elevator,

catching the tail end of Jane''s usations.

He''d noticed Reese protecting Matthew''s daughter more than oncetely, and the suspicion twisted in his gut. As he got closer, his eyesnded on Reese''s bruised knee. For a second, something like concern flickered in his eyes, but it vanished as soon as he saw her hand on Matthew''s arm.

So it was true. Reese had fallen for Matthew, and that''s why she''d gotten rid of

their child and wanted a divorce?

Sebastian let out a bitterugh, his voice cold and empty.

"So, Reese, you''re saying you got rid of our baby because of me?

"My father always treated you well, and now you''re out here, right outside his

hospital room, saying all this. Don''t you feel even a little guilty?"

Reese looked him in the eye. Her knee throbbed, but the chill in her heart hurt even more.

    "Why should I feel guilty?"

"Sebastian, don''t you want to know why I really did it?"

Why? He thought he already knew. Maybe she was angry he''d ignored her, or jealous when he got close to Sofia or maybe she''d just stopped wanting to have his child. But none of that justified what she''d done-especially not without his

    permission.

“It doesn''t matter why. The fact is, because of what you did, my grandather fainted

    and still hasn''t woken up."
