Chapter 46

The officer clicked away at hisputer, double-checking the records. After a moment, he looked up at Reese, a hint of sympathy in his eyes. Sure enough, the marriage between Reese and Sebastian Ratcliff was real. Who would''ve guessed Mr. Ratcliff actually tied the knot?

But from everything he''d seen, Sebastian didn''t seem to like the woman in front of him. Maybe he even hated her. Why else would he go out of his way to clear things up on Ratcliff Global''s official ount, or call the cops on Mrs. Ratcliff''s friend?

Of course, all this rich family drama was way above his pay grade.

"It''s all confirmed, Mrs. Ratcliff," the officer said, handing Reese her ID back. "Since Millie didn''t spread any false rumors, we can process her release."

    "She''s not going anywhere."

The ss doors swung open. Sebastian walked in,wyer at his side.

Thewyer paused for a split second when he saw Reese, then brushed right past her to talk to the officer. "Officer, my client reported Millie because she posted their marriage certificate online without his permission. That''s a vition of his privacy and image rights. We hope you''ll take this seriously."

Reese''s words tumbled out before she could stop them. "I told her to do it. I''m part of this too. I gave her my consent."

"You gave her your consent?" Sebastian turned to Reese, his eyes cold. "Couldn''t wait to show off your title, huh?

"Reese, don''t forget what we agreed on. This marriage was supposed to be a secret. Now look at the mess you''ve made. How do you think this makes Sofia look?

“She already got kicked out of Clever Cloud because of you. Are you gonna ruining her reputation too?"

Sofia followed Sebastian in, a satisfied smirk on her lips as she slipped her arm through his. "Sebastian, I have you, and nothing anyone else does can touch me," she said softly, her eyes sliding over Reese with tant contempt.

Sometimes Sofia almost felt sorry for Reese. Evenst night at the conference, when Dominic exposed that she''d stolen Reese''s work, Sebastian still found a way to protect her, making sure Sofia came out clean.

Sofia always knew Reese would eventually cause a scene, but she never thought it would be something this dumb.

So what if Reese posted her marriage certificate online? Did she really think that would change anything? As long as Sebastian refused to acknowledge it, he could sweep it under the rug in no time.

Reese''s little outburst was only hurting Sofia''s reputation. Did she actually think Sebastian would let it slide?

Sure enough, Sebastian''s voice was ice-cold. "Millie''s actions hurt Sofia. She''s got to take responsibility."

"I''ll take it," Reese shot back, her voice steady and cold. She stepped in front of them. "Let Millie go."

"You?” Sebastian let out a short, scornfulugh. He didn''t even look at her as he nodded at the officer. "Go ahead with the process."

"Wait!" Reese rushed to block his way, her eyes zing as she looked up at him. "Sebastian, if you touch Millie, I''m gonna go public about what happened that night.

"You might not know, but I filed a police report right after. There''s an official record and evidence."

Sebastian pushed her aside, his face dark with anger. "Don''t get in the way of the police, Reese."

"You really think I''d believe you?" His voice was full of mockery. "You''re the one who drugged me. Now you''re trying to act like the victim? Your tricks just keep getting worse."

The whole room fell silent. All eyes were on Reese, some pitying, some mocking. The humiliation burned under their stares.

"Sebastian, you bastard! Reese is pregnant. How could you push her like that!"

A sharp tap of a cane echoed from the entrance. Mr. Ratcliff, dressed in a dark suit, walked in with the butler supporting him. He red at Sebastian, anger shing in his eyes.

Sofia gripped Sebastian''s arm a little tighter and called softly, "Grandpa.”

Mr. Ratcliff didn''t even look at her. He marched straight to Reese''s side and, as he passed Sebastian, brought his cane down hard on Sebastian''s shin.
