Seeing that her husband was actually listening to her analysis, Miranda continued, "Think about cousin Gina. What does she value the most? The Goodwin family lineage, of course! An heir for Goodwin & Co.! She might adore her granddaughter, but she''s still just a girl. What wealthy, elite family doesn''t want a grandson?"
Shaun himself had two sons, which was his pride and joy. As a man, he perfectly understood the deep-seated desire for a male heir.
"Go on."
Miranda smiled. "What is Eleanor''s status now? A brilliant scientist, a Goodwin & Co. shareholder, young and sessful, with high social standing. She spends every day glued to herb bench. Do you honestly think a woman like that has the time or desire to focus on a family? Do you think she''d be willing to derail her career just to given another child?"
Shaun''s eyes lit up. Why hadn''t he thought of this?n''s push for a remarriage was likely tied to the idea of having a son. But if Eleanor outright refused to have more children? Would the Goodwin family still ept her back into the fold?
"Eleanor is a powerful woman now. She won''t let our cousin dictate her life anymore. So, my cousin will definitely be the one to stop them from remarrying."
Shaun''s mood instantly improved after hearing his wife''s reasoning. "You''re right. Gina only epted Eleanor back then becausen was young, stubborn, andpletely smitten with her. Otherwise, she wouldn''t have even looked twice at the girl."
"Exactly! There are plenty of women out there who can give him children. Withn''s qualifications, he could have his pick of the best. Why does it have to be Eleanor?" Miranda scoffed. "Eleanor hase into her own now. She has high standards. She doesn''t care about the Goodwin family''s money or status. She knows that if they remarry, she''ll be expected to sacrifice her career, return to the home, and serve her husband and children. Do you really think she''d agree to that?"
Shaun felt that his wife''s analysis was spot on. Remembering the look in Eleanor''s eyes, it was obvious she wasn''t the type to settle for being a housewife. She had ambition!
With her level of expertise, even if she didn''t remarryn, he would still throw bottomless funding at her research.
So, getting back together offered her no real benefits.
"I''ll go visit Gina in
in a few days and
have a nice long ''chat'' with her,"
Mirandaforted him. "Don''t
worry, leave this to me. I''ll make sure Gina realizes that no matter how exceptional Eleanor is, she is no longer fit to enter the Goodwin Household. The future mistress of the Goodwin family needs to be someone who prioritizes the family and is willing to have more children."
Shaun finally felt a weight lift off his chest. As long as Eleanor andn didn''t remarry, she wouldn''t pose a threat to him.
"Honey, do you remember my sister''s daughter, Yvette? She grew up to be incredibly beautiful, and she just got back from studying abroad. What do you think about arranging for her to work closely withn?" Miranda suggested, a hidden agendacing her tone.
Shaun instantly understood his wife''s intentions, his eyes gleaming. "You mean... get Yvette a job at Goodwin & Co.? To get close ton?"
"Why not?" Miranda said
self-righteously. "My Yvette is an Ivy
League graduate in financial
management. She''s highly capable,
drop-dead gorgeous, has a clean
background and we know exactly who she is. She''s infinitely better than some random girl with an unknown history."
Shaun frowned, pondering the idea. Miranda linked her arm through his. "Shaun, just get her into the
<ppany. It doesn''t have to be a high-ranking position. Just put her in the CEO''s office or somewhere nearn as an assistant First, she can → help keep an eye on things for you. And second, since we''re family, wouldn''t it make things easier for our sons to enter thepanyter on?"
