Eleanor leaned over and began cing sensors on the monkey''s body. Focused on the screen beside her, she didn''t notice the monkey''s eyes suddenly flicker open. By the time she realized what was happening, the monkey had already wed her arm, leaving several deep, bleeding scratches.
Blood instantly soaked the sleeve of her whiteb coat, startling Ryan and Callie who were standing nearby. They reacted instantly, pinning down the under- anesthetized monkey to prevent it from causing further harm.
Fortunately, the anesthetic took full effect again shortly after, and the monkey lost its aggression. Callie returned it to its cage.
Ryan quickly rushed out of theb and returned momentster with a first-aid kit. "Dr. Sutton, you need a tetanus shot and a rabies vine immediately," Ryan said. Fighting through the pain, Eleanor took off herb coat and rolled up her sleeve. Severe scratches covered the middle of her forearm, blood streaming from the wounds.
"I''ll bandage it for now, and then we need to get you to a hospital as soon as possible," Ryan said as he worked.
Eleanor nodded, beads of sweat forming on her forehead from the pain.
Callie dialed for emergency services. "An ambnce is on its way."
As Eleanor was being loaded into the ambnce, Gwenda and Callie climbed in with her. Callie, remembering something, quickly sent a text message.
Eleanor was taken to the hospital''s emergency room. While a doctor was cleaning her wounds, a figure hurried in—it wasn.
He had clearlye straight from an important meeting, his suit jacket clutched in his hand, his handsome face tense, and his breathing unsteady.
"What happened?" he asked, ncing at Eleanor''s wound before turning his sharp gaze on Callie.
"Mr. Goodwin, I''m so sorry. We didn''t administer a high enough dose of anesthetic to the monkey, and it woke up and attacked Eleanor," Callie said apologetically.
The doctor, still working, replied,
"The wounds are quite deep and will need stitches. The main concern is infection. We''ve already administered
the strongest tetanus
and rabies vines, but she need
to be hospitalized for observation
for at least three days."
"No observation. I have experiments I need to do," Eleanor told the doctor. "I can monitor it myself."
"Absolutely not,"n''s voice was firm and unyielding. "The experiments can be handled by others. Your health is not something to be careless about."
He turned back to the doctor. "Please arrange for a three-day hospital stay for observation, and make sure she receives the best possible treatment."
"This is my business. I can make my own decisions," Eleanor said, frowning at him.
Seeing things were getting tense, Callie jumped in. "Eleanor, Mr. Goodwin''s not wrong. We''ll handle the data collection, you can run the aralysister. Just focus on getting better for now, okay?"
The doctor nodded firmly. "Miss Sutton, let''s be clear, a monkey scratch is nothing to brush off, especially with ab animals. Infections can turn serious fast. Staying in the hospital for observation is really the only safe move here."
With everyone urging her, Eleanor felt she couldn''t insist any longer. She nodded. "Alright."
