Chapter 899

Smith was taken aback. Mr. Goodwin certainly knew Eleanor well, anticipating her next move. Could Eleanor really be a second potential donor?

That afternoon, Eleanor took her own blood sample to be tested, running theparison herself.

    The analysis wasplete.

Her blood was not suitable for the experiment.

Smith, who had been keeping a close eye on the matter, saw the results on hisputer and sighed. Eleanor''spatibility was only around sixty percent-not high enough to be effective.

Eleanor ran the test three times, but the result was always the same. Finally, she gave up and returned to her office, three small bruises already forming on her inner elbow from the needles.

Smith sent a text ton: "Miss Sutton did run the gicparison. She is not a suitable match."

The reply came back a momentter: "Thank you."

Smith rubbed his temples. He really couldn''t afford to get distracted by anything else. The experiment was all that mattered.

Eleanor sat in her office, lost in thought for a long time. Then, shaking it off, she resolved not to waste any more time and threw herself back into her work.

The crisis at Yeaton Holdings had the entire family on edge. Vanessa was summoned back to Yeaton Manor for dinner. Faye had also taken the day off from work, and Mrs. Yeaton had been so worried for the past two days she could barely eat or sleep.

"Vanessa, you have to speak ton on your father''s behalf," Mrs. Yeaton pleaded. "This isn''t his fault; it''s those useless subordinates of his who caused all this trouble."

Vanessa sipped her tea quietly. "Don''t worry," she said, looking up. "Goodwin & Co. won''t let thepany go under."

"Mom, if Vanessa says so, I''m sure Dad''spany will be fine," Faye added, trying to reassure her mother.

Mrs. Yeaton looked at Vanessa. "We owe it all to you that your father''spany was able to go public. None of us wanted this to happen."

Vanessa turned her face away. "If there''s nothing else, I should be going."

"Faye, why don''t you take your sister out for a nice meal?" Mrs. Yeaton suggested.

Faye grabbed her purse and linked arms with Vanessa. "Come on, sis. There''s a new restaurant that just opened. Let''s have lunch."

Vanessa didn''t refuse, and the two of them left.

Behind them, a servant leaned in to whisper to Mrs. Yeaton. "The eldest miss certainly puts on airs. You invite her to lunch, and she won''t even give you the time of day."

"I used to look down on her and her mother; now she''s just lording it over me," Mrs. Yeaton said bitterly. She hadn''t forgotten how she''d treated them the past, but now that

Vanessa hadtched onto the Goodwin family she had no choice but to swallow her pride. If the Goodwins hadn''t supported Vanessa for thest ten years, she and her mother would still be struggling in the slums of Drexford.

Even back then, when Vanessa had first arrived at the Yeaton house, a timid girl hiding behind her mother Mrs. Yeaton had seen the ambition in her@yes. And she''d been right. A decadeter, Vanessa was not only a celebrated piano prodigy but also the likely future daughter-inw of the Goodwin family. From now on, Mrs. Yeaton would be the one seeking her favor.

However, Vanessa''s mother was a constant headache. She had a gambling addiction and a penchant for bad investments. To keep

Vanessa happy, the Yeatons had already given her fifty million this

    year alone.
