Chapter 762: Forgive me for my actions, Nick

Chapter 762: Forgive me for my actions, Nick

"Who gave you the authority to call Nick without informing me first?" Gabriel’s stern voice made Denzel stiffen. "If not me, you should have at least consulted Karmen. Do you have any idea the scale of the mess you’ve created?"

Denzel swallowed hard, making his pale face look even more gaunt. "Forgive me, Gabriel. I—I truly believed Prince Dominick would want to be here once he realized what Juniper was enduring."

"And why the hell do you care what she’s enduring?" Gabriel snapped, stepping into Denzel’s personal space.

"Do you have any conception of the fallout at the pce? Both Casaio and Nick are my elder brothers. When you use them, you trigger a chain reaction you can’t control. If their Betas or Gammas had provoked me like that, I would have reacted exactly as Nick did."

"It won’t happen again. Please, I am asking for your forgiveness," Denzel pleaded, his head bowed.

"You won’t stay as my Gamma," Gabriel pronounced. Denzel’s mouth opened to protest, but Gabriel cut him off with a pointed finger. "Don’t say another word."

"Please, Prince Gabriel, don’t do this," Denzel whispered, desperate now. "This is the first time I have ever failed you."

"You have no idea what you’ve done, Denzel," Gabriel said, his violet eyes shing with anger and exhaustion. "Kate’s wedding is in two days. Because of your ’initiative,’ I was in a physical brawl with my brother in the pce hallways. My wife and my son had to witness that. The damage you caused is unforgivable. Hand over your badge of office to Karmen by tonight."

Gabriel turned to leave, but stopped, his back to Denzel. "If you thought I would forgive you for making such a rash decision, you were wrong, Denzel. Loyalty starts with transparency, and you bypassed me."

With that, he walked away before he vanished around the corner. Denzel stood alone in the open space.

After some time, Denzelposed himself and returned to the area. He saw Gabriel sitting on a lounge sofa with closed eyes. Realizing that Dominick and Juniper were still talking behind the closed curtains, Denzel quietly lowered himself into the seat across from the Prince.

Denzel’s fingers twisted together in hisp, his voice trembling as he made onest attempt. "Gabriel, please, don’t dismiss me like this. I admit I made a grave mistake in judgment, but I truly believed Prince Dominick would listen if he saw the truth for himself."

"Did you not hear me the first time, Denzel?" Gabriel opened his eyes, his gaze piercing through his Gamma with cold authority.

"I did. But..." Denzel trailed off, the realization hitting him that every word he spoke was only stoking the embers of Gabriel’s fury.

The sharp rattle of the curtain rings sliding back cut through the tension. Both Gabriel and Denzel stood abruptly as Dominick stepped out of the small enclosure.

"Your Highness, please forgive me for the trouble I’ve caused you," Denzel said, bowing deeply to Dominick. Behind him, Juniper watched from her bed with a confused expression.

Dominick nced at the bowed man, his face a mask of indifference. "If Gabriel chooses to forgive you, then I will follow his lead."

"He is no longer my Gamma," Gabriel revealed, the finality in his voice sending a shockwave through both Dominick and Juniper. He didn’t wait for their reaction before turning to his brother. "Is the matter with her finished?"

"Yes," Dominick answered, his voice devoid of emotion. "I only need to pass the formal orders now, which will take some time to draft thoughtfully. I’ll have Evan handle the logistics of the investigation and the public statement."

"Alright. Then let’s go back," Gabriel said, already turning toward the exit without a second nce at Denzel or the woman in the bed.

Dominick stood at the edge of the curtain.

"You’ll get to live a normal life," he said. "And I hope you find your own peace, Juniper. Forgive me for not bing the man you desired. Though I do pray to the Moon Goddess that she grants you the man you deserve."

He didn’t wait for her to respond. He turned his back on the hospital bed, the Chapter of their life together finally closing. As he passed the dejected Gamma, he paused just long enough to offer a brief assurance.

"I’ll talk to Gabriel regarding your position," Dominick murmured to Denzel. He didn’t promise a miracle, but the acknowledgment was enough to make Denzel’s head lift slightly as the Prince walked away.

Juniper watched them go. She turned her gaze toward Denzel, her eyes filled with guilt. "You lost your position as the Gamma because of me," she whispered, her voice cracking.

"No," Denzel replied, staring at the floor where the Princes had just stood. "I ended up messing this up myself. I was overconfident. I thought if I just forced the truth, everything would be fine."

He looked at the empty hallway, knowing that even with Dominick’s word, Gabriel was not a man who changed his mind easily once his family’s peace had been threatened.

The air in the Queen’s chamber was filled with the scent of jasmine and the soft rocking of a cradle. Gabriel’s eyes immediately locked onto Amelie, who sat near the window with Noah.

His chest tightened; the urge to gather them both in his arms and retreat to their own wing was nearly overwhelming, but the weight of his mother’s gaze held him in ce.

"Did you two finish the task so quickly?" Mabel inquired, setting aside a silk embroidery hoop. Her eyes scanned their faces, noting that while the tension remained, the vtile aggression from earlier had simmered into a somber resolve.

"Yes, Mom," Dominick asserted, his voice steady and formal. "I will have my Beta issue an official statement shortly. I intend to ensure Juniper no longer faces the public’s judgment for the failure of our marriage. She will be protected."

"Good." Mabel offered an approving nod. "A Prince must clean up the shadows he casts, even after he moves toward the light."

"I have also taken administrative action. I removed Denzel from his position as Gamma. That is the price he must pay for bypassing my authority and inciting chaos between Nick and me."

Amelie’s hands stilled on the cradle, her eyes snapping up to meet Gabriel’s.

    "Was that necessary?" Mabel asked.

Gabriel gave a stiff, respectful nod to his mother before shifting his focus to the window. "It was, Mom. Now, if you’ll allow it, I would like to take my wife and son back to our wing."

Mabel didn’t answer immediately. Instead, her eyes drifted to Amelie, whose expression remained guarded as she held Noah a little closer.

"Did you apologize to your brother, Gabriel?" Amelie asked softly.

Gabriel didn’t hesitate this time. He turned fully toward Dominick, his shoulders losing some of their rigid defensive set. "Forgive me for my actions, Nick. They were brutal, and I should have exercised better control over my temper."

Dominick met his brother’s gaze with a weary but sincere nod. "I forgive you," he said, before looking specifically at Amelie to offer his own peace offering. "Don’t let this weigh on you. Such things aremon between brothers, however heated they seem. I also apologize for hurting my brother, and your husband, in front of you."

The tight knot in Amelie’s chest finally loosened, and she offered a small, relieved smile. Queen Mabel watched the exchange with a satisfied hum, pleased to see the cracks in the foundation of her house being mended so swiftly.

"Very well," Mabel affirmed, waving a hand toward the door. "You may take your family, Gabriel."

Gabriel crossed the room in three long strides, reaching out to take Noah from Amelie’sp while resting his other hand firmly on her shoulder, guiding her toward the exit.
