Chapter 749: The answer to a prayer

Chapter 749: The answer to a prayer

"Who’s Carlos?" Aisha asked suddenly when Karmen mentioned his name.

They were sitting together on the couch in her house, watching a television show. Aisha had been leaningfortably against Karmen, her head resting on his shoulder.

Karmen kept his eyes on the television for a moment before answering.

    "Carlos is a sorcerer."

Aisha immediately lifted her head and turned to look at him, surprise clear on her face.

"But... we don’t allow such beings around us," she said in shock. "What is he doing here?"

Karmen gave a small smile at her reaction.

"Aisha, that rule doesn’t apply anymore," he exined. "And even if it did, Carlos earned his ce here a long time ago."

He adjusted slightly on the couch as he continued.

"He has done more for Gabriel and Amelie than most people ever could. They managed to defeat a powerful dark witch because of Carlos and his grandmother."

"A dark witch?" Aisha repeated, raising her eyebrows. "What did she do?"

Karmen exhaled slowly, recalling everything that had happened.

"It’s a long story," he began. "You already know that Prince Gabriel couldn’t find his mate for many years. Most people in the country were aware of that."

He nced briefly at Aisha before continuing.

"Everything started the night Gabriel met Amelie. That night, she suddenly came to him asking for help."

Karmen shook his head slightly, still finding the memory strange.

"Honestly, I still find it unbelievable that Gabriel even agreed to help her."

He paused before revealing the deeper truth.

"Gabriel and Amelie were actually carrying a curse from their past lives."

Aisha stared at him, pletely absorbed in the story.

"And strangely enough... Noah yed a role in breaking that curse," Karmen added.

    Aisha blinked in disbelief.

"But Noah isn’t Prince Gabriel’s biological son."

"Biologically, no," Karmen agreed. "But when Alex rejected Amelie and even tried to kill her, something extraordinary happened."

    His voice lowered slightly.

"The little Noah in her womb severed all ties with his biological father."

    Aisha looked stunned.

    Karmen continued calmly.

"Gabriel wasn’t someone who would normally help anyone without reason. But that night... he felt something. The unborn pup had chosen him as his father."

He leaned back slightly against the couch.

"That made Gabriel curious about Amelie. So he saved her."

A faint smile crossed his face.

"And from there... everything slowly changed. Love grew between them."

He shrugged lightly. "But their journey wasn’t easy. They had to endure a lot of hardships before finally finding peace in their lives."

"Hm," Aisha murmured thoughtfully. "It does sound veryplicated."

She leaned back slightly against Karmen, still processing everything he had just told her.

"But I’m d they finally found happiness," she added with a soft smile. "After everything they went through, they deserve that peace."

For a moment they watched the television in silence. Then another thought crossed Aisha’s mind.

"By the way..." she said hesitantly, ncing up at him. "Can I reallye with you to Princess Katelyn’s wedding?"

Her fingers lightly traced the fabric of his sleeve as she spoke.

"I mean... we haven’t even told many people about our rtionship yet."

Karmen turned his head toward her.

"We will," he said calmly. "Once we return to the capital."

He gave her a reassuring smile.

"Let’s start by telling my parents first. My mother has been worried about my rtionship for a long time."

    His expression softened.

"She deserves to know the truth I’ve been hiding from her."

    Aisha nodded slowly.

    "Alright," she said.

After a brief pause, she added, "I’d also like to meet your mother properly again. Thest time we met... I think I hurt her." Her voice carried a hint of guilt. "She was so kind to me."

    Karmen shook his head gently.

"Mom liked you from the moment she first saw you."

His hand lifted to her cheek, his fingers softly caressing her skin.

Then he leaned down and ced a gentle kiss on the center of her forehead.

"And your parents?" he added with a faint smile. "The moment they found out we’re together, all their worries disappeared."

He chuckled lightly. "Did you see their faces?"

Aisha smiled warmly at the memory. "Yes," she said. "I don’t think I’ve ever seen them that happy before."

"Because all this time, they’ve been worried about you," Karmen said gently. "Their second daughter who refused to move on. They kept wondering what would happen to you after they were gone. Whether you would be able to live happily or not."

    He paused briefly before continuing.

"Sometimes parents do go a little overboard with their worries," he admitted with a small smile. "But I also know that their concernes purely from love."

Aisha listened quietly. Then she leaned closer and rested her head against his chest, wrapping her arms around him in a tight embrace.

"Karmen," she said softly, her voice filled with emotion, "if it weren’t for you... I think I would still be living in that darkness."

She tightened her hold slightly. "Your presence in my life feels like a miracle to me. I feel alive again. There was a time when I forgot how to smile... How to enjoy life."

She lifted her face slightly but kept her arms around him. "But after meeting you, something inside me changed." A faint smile appeared on her lips. "Thank you for always being my biggest supporter."

Aisha leaned forward and gently pressed her lips against his. When she pulled back, a bright smile spread across her face, the kind that reached her eyes.

"I love you, Karmen," she said softly.

Karmen looked at her for a moment as if wanting to memorize that expression. Then he lifted his hands and cupped her face between his palms.

"I love you too, Aisha," he replied. "Being with you made me realize things I never even knew I was searching for."

He brushed his thumb lightly across her cheek.

"You were the answer to a prayer I didn’t even know I had made."
