Chapter 959

"An... an autopsy?" Mrs. Powell was stunned.

The Walker mother and daughter were far too naive, thinking they could just bribe a doctor, murder Yvonne, and then swap the body to do as they pleased. They never considered that the Thompson family wouldn''t let it go so easily after one of their own had died.

Vincent had warned Mrs. Walker repeatedly not to act rashly. Besides having a son now and being unwilling to risk everything for his sickly daughter Ynda, he knew that without the Rogers family''s backing, they''d have a hard time getting away clean.

"This... we can''t do an autopsy, can we?" Mrs. Powell was in aplete panic, subconsciously looking to Bet.

"No autopsy." Bet stood up, dering, "I won''t allow anyone to harm Yvonne''s body."

Frank: "Bet! What if Yvonne''s death wasn''t an ident but a case of medical malpractice?"

Bet: "Do you really think they''d have the nerve to let an ''ident'' happen to my wife?"

“Right, right! Even if we had all the courage in the world, we wouldn''t dare let anything happen to Bet''s wife," Mrs. Powell quickly agreed.

For a moment, even Frank couldn''t find a reason to argue.

Besides, Yvonne was Bet''s wife. If he couldn''t bear the thought of her undergoing an autopsy, Frank had no standing, nor any reason, to oppose his son on the matter.

"Then, shall I have the orderlies take your wife to the morgue?" Mrs. Powell asked again.

Her arrangement with Mrs. Walker was to swap the ''bodies'' in the hospital morgue.

“Yes.” Bet held Yvonne''s hand, hesitating for a moment before letting go.

The nurse called for two male orderlies, who transferred Yvonne onto a gurney and began wheeling her out of the delivery room.

Just as they were about to push Yvonne out, Bet suddenly spoke up, "Wait."

"Sir, is there a problem?" an orderly asked, confused.

Bet didn''t answer. Instead, he picked up a nket and covered Yvonne with it. "My wife gets cold easily."

After wrapping Yvonne tightly in the thick nket, Bet waved his hand, signaling the orderlies to take her away.

    The orderlies: "..."

After all their years working in the hospital, it was the first time they''d ever heard of a corpse being afraid

    of

è cold He must be grieving so

    much he''s lost his mind.

"Ben... Bet, are you alright?" Emma clearly thought Bet was losing his grip on reality as well.

She grabbed Bet''s hand tightly, consoling him, "Bet, Yvonne is gone, but the baby only has you as father now. You have to stay strong, if only for the child."

The memory of how Bet had nearly followed Yvonne in death after her sacfffice was still vivid in Emma''s mind. She was terrified that the shock would drive him todo something foolish again.

"Yes, I know. Mom, Dad, don''t worry," Bet said, his voice and expression

surprisingly calm and steady. He seemed fine.

Frank: “Bet, why don''t we go back to the room and see the baby?"

"Yes, let''s go see the baby. You''re a father now, and you haven''t even held your

daughter yet," Emma added, nodding eagerly.

Bet followed Frank and Emma back to the hospital room.
