Chapter 936

Because her failing kidneys had caused her to bloat, she couldn''t squeeze into her usual size at all.

Her illness had made her emotionally unstabletely. She immediately flew into a rage, shoving the sales associate to the ground.

Since Mrs. Walker and Ynda were not only VIP clients but also the mayor''s wife and daughter, the staff dared not offend them.

The associate, who had taken a hard fall, had to quickly get up and bow repeatedly, apologizing profusely to Ynda.

"Are you blind? You brought me such a small size! Are you trying to make a fool out of me?" Ynda shrieked, raising her hand to p the woman.

Fortunately, Mrs. Walker rushed over and grabbed her arm just in time.

"Ynda, what''s wrong?" Mrs. Walker asked.

"Look at the sizes she brought! I can''t fit into a single one of them!" Ynda fumed.

Mrs. Walker nced at the sales associate, who looked back with tears welling in her eyes.

Ynda was wearing loose clothing and a baggy jacket, so the associate hadn''t noticed she''d gained weight and had simply grabbed her usual size.

"It was my oversight. I forgot to mention it to the staff," Mrs. Walker said. Ever conscious of her image as a dignified socialite in public, she would never throw a tantrum like her daughter and even tried to smooth things over for the associate. "Shall we have her bring you the next size up to try?" Mrs. Walker suggested. "Forget it. I don''t want to buy anything," Ynda snapped, then turned and ran out of the store.

"Ynda! Ynda!" Mrs. Walker called out, but could only sigh and chase after her. After the mother and daughter had left, other sales associates hurried over to help the one Ynda had pushed to a quiet ce to rest.

The fall hadn''t caused any serious injuries, but since she was wearing a skirt, her knees were badly bruised.

"Did Ms. Walker lose her mind or something? She''s acting like a lunatic," the associate muttered, looking unhappily at the bruises on her knees.

In the past, Ynda had been an arrogant socialite, proud as a peacock. While she

always looked down on them, she had never been physically violent.

"I heard her husband was sentenced

to prison. Not only did she get a

divorce but she also recently had an

abortion. It''s a truly tragic story," another associate whispered.

These luxury retail workers served the wealthy, so they were privy to some of the gossip from that circle.

"No wonder she''s like this. If that were me, I''d go crazy too."

"No matter how tragic her life is,

she''s still better off than us. Even et

    divorced, she''s still the mayor''s

    daughter We''re just working-ss

    people, we can''tpare

After a few moments of hushed chatter, new customers arrived, and the associates immediately donned their professional masks and greeted them with practiced smiles.

Meanwhile, Bet and Yvonne were already holding hands as they walked into the baby section on the lower floor.

The area was filled with products for expectant mothers and infants-food, clothes,

and supplies, covering nearly everything one could need.

Ever since Yvonne became pregnant, Emma had gone on a massive shopping spree, filling an entire room at home with baby things.

Because they didn''t know if Yvonne was having a boy or a girl, Emma had bought a bit of everything. Her logic was tharif it wasn''t used for this baby, it could be saved for the second.

With Emma having bought so much, Yvonne had never purchased anything herself. This was her first time in a baby store.

The store was set up like a supermarket, with all the products disyed on shelves. Customers could browse freely and then check out at the register.

A sales assistant handed them a shopping cart.

Bet pushed the cart with one hand and held Yvonne''s with the other as they strolled between the endless rows of shelves.
