Karina added.
Ever since her divorce from Noah, the White family''s status in Istra had plummeted. Life was hard for the Whites, which made life even harder for Karina at home. She was now desperate to remarry Noah.
"Shut up!" Noah red at Karina, his voice filled with fury.
While he still felt pity for his own daughter, Nic, he was utterly tired of Karina.
"Daddy, don''t be mean to Mommy, don''t be mean to Mommy." Noah''s anger frightened Nic, and her little face turned pale.
Nic had just eaten too much and had a crying fit. Now, startled by Noah, her face went white, and she suddenly vomited.
"Nic, Nic, what''s wrong!" Karina rushed over and pulled her daughter into her arms, shrieking, "To the hospital, quick, to the hospital!"
Worried his daughter might be sick, Noah didn''t dare dy and immediately drove Karina and Nic to a nearby hospital.
Since it was nighttime, only the pediatric emergency room was open.
The emergency doctor examined Nic but didn''t even prescribe any medicine. "The child just ate too much and then got worked up, which caused the vomiting. There''s nothing wrong. Just have her drink some water when you get home."
Karina had hoped to use Nic''s sickness as an opportunity to spend more time with Noah, but the doctor said Nic was fine and dismissed them so easily.
"My daughter threw up, how can there be nothing wrong? Do you even know what you''re doing? Did you even examine my daughter properly!"
Karina''s awful attitude wore out the doctor''s patience. He replied tly, "The child just overate. As parents, you don''t need to make a big deal out of nothing. If you don''t trust my medical skills, you can go to another hospital."
Noah remained silent, but he trusted the doctor''s diagnosis. Besides, in Karina''s arms, Nic''s color had already returned, and she showed no signs of illness at all.
"Since there''s nothing wrong, I''ll take you home," Noah said, walking out of the doctor''s office first.
Karina had no choice but to carry Nic and follow him.
Nic was almost five and getting heavy. Karina struggled to carry her, so she put her down and told her to walk on her own.
Having eaten her fill, Nic was getting sleepy and refused to walk, whining for Noah to carry her.
So Noah lifted her into his arms and walked toward the elevators, with Karina following closely behind.
They stood waiting for the elevator. Since the hospital was quiet at night, the doors opened quickly.
When Noah saw Mrs. Scott and Cynthia inside the elevator, his eyes widened in astonishment.
"Mom, Cynthia, what are you doing at the hospital?"
Cynthia kept her eyes downcast, silent, as if she hadn''t seen or heard him. Beside her, Mrs. Scott''s icy gaze swept over Noah and before she spoke sarcastically.
"You upset Cynthia so much it''s affected her pregnancy. She''s been hospitalized for a week, and you, her husband, haven''t bothered to ask abour fer. I don''t know what Cynthia ever did to deserve a man like you."
Seeing Cynthia in a hospital gown, Noah''s heart clenched in pain. "Mom, Cynthia,
please let me exin..."
"No need to exin. Just keep being
the perfect ex-husband and doting
father Mrs. Scott said, angrily
showing Noah. She then forcefully
pressed the close-door button.
