The dinner was surprisingly to her liking. Yvonne had a small portion of food and half a bowl of soup. The nourishing broth had bits of sweet corn in it, which were delightfully crisp.
Yvonne picked out all the corn and ate it.
She was a bit full and let out a small burp as she set down her utensils.
Dessert was still on the table—a few exquisite pastries that were the restaurant''s specialty.
"I''m already stuffed, and I haven''t even touched dessert," Yvonne said, patting her stomach.
"You and your appetite," Bet chuckled before calling the waiter to pack up the desserts. They could have them the next day.
"Really full? I''ll take you for a walk by the river when we get back to help you digest," Bet offered, reaching out to gently pat her stomach.
Yvonne, however, shook her head. "I don''t want to. I''m tired and just want to go home and sleep."
As she spoke, her beautiful eyes narrowed, and she let out an involuntary yawn.
After spending the entire day out on the water, stubbornly waiting to see dolphins, Yvonne had sat on the deck without napping. Now, she was truly exhausted.
"Alright, home to bed it is." Bet stood up from his seat, picking up the take-out box with one hand and taking Yvonne''s hand with the other.
Yvonne obediently let him lead her out of the private room.
Since Yvonne was walking slowly, Bet naturally matched her pace.
As they walked hand-in-hand down the stairs and through the first-floor lobby, Yvonne stopped. "I''m going to the restroom."
"Okay." Bet nodded and stood waiting for her.
The restroom was on the right side of the lobby, at the end of a corridor.
When Yvonne returned from the restroom, she saw a small figure standing in front of Bet from a distance.
Nic was looking up at him, her face split in a wide grin.
She held Noah''s hand with one of hers and Karina White''s with the other. The three of them together looked like a picture of a warm, happy family.
Yvonne couldn''t help but think that if Cynthia were here to see this, the shock would probably be bad for her pregnancy.
"Uncle, are you eating here too? The desserts here are super, super yummy. Nic and Mommy bath love them. Do you want some? I''ll have Daddy buy you some too."
Nic said to Bet with a bright smile, her voice sweet and childish.
"Your uncle has already bought some," Bet replied gently, holding up the take- out box in his hand.
Just then, Yvonne walked over, and Bet naturally took her hand.
Yvonne stood beside Bet, looked up at Noah and Karina, and greeted them politely, "Noah, Ms. White."
"Hello," Noah nodded with a gentle smile.
Karina pouted but said nothing, clearly displeased with being called ''Ms. White.''
But Bet was protective of his wife, and in his presence, Karina didn''t dare say anything negative about Yvonne, so she had to endure it.
Yvonne exchanged a few more pleasantries with Noah after her greeting.
Then, Noah led Nic upstairs, while Bet wrapped an arm around Yvonne and headed for the exit.
As they reached the restaurant''s entrance, Yvonne instinctively nced back and saw Nic''s
family of three heading upstairs
Nic was holding her father''s hand on one side and her mothers on the other, as cheerful as a little bird.
"What are you looking at?" Bet also turned slightly, following her gaze, but Noam and the others had already disappeared around the bend in the staircase.
"Nothing," Yvonne replied casually.
