Chapter 914

"I told you, Mr. Taylor has always had a thing for that little bitch Yvonne. Why would he ever take your side?" Letitia muttered, tugging at the hem of Jessa Lane''s dress. "Let''s just go back. We''re just embarrassing ourselves standing here."

Jessa Lane shot her a re before turning and running toward the vi. She had never been so humiliated in her entire life.

By now, Yvonne and Bet were back in their room.

Yvonne went straight into the bathroom to shower. Now that she was pregnant, she was extremely sensitive to the smell of alcohol and found it nauseating.

After her shower, Yvonne changed into clean clothes-not another formal dress, butfortable loungewear.

Since they were back, she had no intention of rejoining the party.

Yvonne came out of the bathroom and saw Bet standing by the door, his tall frame casually leaning against the wall.

He had also changed out of his suit and dress shirt into a loose-fitting t-shirt.

"Aren''t you going back to the party?" Yvonne asked, confused.

Bet was the majority shareholder of the Thompson Group; he was expected to participate in thepany retreat.

"No. Noah''s there, that''s enough," Bet replied casually, reaching out to ruffle her hair, which was still damp from her shower.

"Want me to blow-dry your hair?" Bet asked.

Yvonne shook her head. "I''m not going to sleep right now. It doesn''t need drying; it''ll air-dry on its own."

"Not sleeping right now, huh? Then how about we do something else?" Bet wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace with a gentle tug.

Their bodies pressed together unexpectedly. The heat of his chest was intoxicating, and the raw hunger in his gaze made Yvonne''s breath hitch. She felt the flush creeping up her neck, a telltale sign of the spark between them.

She nced down at her belly, then looked up at Bet. "Don''t get any ideas."

    Yvonne was past the three-month

    mark of her pregnancy, so

    technically, they could be intimate

Bother body was so fragile that neither of them dared to be reckless.

"What ideas? I just want to hold you and talk for a bit. What were you thinking?" Bet raised a hand and ruffled her hair again, deliberately teasing her.

Slightly annoyed, Yvonne gave his chest a light push.

Bet caught her hand. “Did someone give you a hard time earlier?"

"Someone threw red wine all over me for no reason. The dress is ruined. But I got them back, so I didn''t lose out," Yvonne huffed.

Bet had seen the mess and knew it was Yvonne''s handiwork. Jessa Lane and Letitia wouldn''t have dared to cause such a scene at a Thompson Group party.

"Good. As long as you didn''t lose out," Bet chuckled, holding her close.

"Are the Taylor and Lane families nning to merge through marriage?" Yvonne asked, a little curious.

Jessa Lane''s hostility towards her waspletely baffling. Since the Thompson and Taylor families were rted, they were bound to see each other during holidays, and Yvonne really didn''t want to deal with her.

"You seem very interested in Thomas''s marriage prospects,” Bet said, raising an eyebrow slightly.

“Just curious. If you don''t want to talk about it, fine," Yvonne huffed.

Mr. Bet Thompson was perfect in every way, except for his tendency to get jealous over nothing. It was truly a headache.

"It''s probably not going to happen. No matter what my aunt does, she can''t control Thomas. He''s never even given Jessa Lane a second nce," Bet added.

"Yeah, Thomas doesn''t seem to like Jessa Lane very much," Yvonne agreed with a nod.

"He likes your type," Bet said.

    Yvonne: "..."

Yvonne looked up and gave Bet a mild re. "If you''re not going to talk

properly, I''m not going to talk to you at all."
