Since it was sote, they didn''t want to bother Helen. Mr. Bet Thompson went into the kitchen himself and threw together a warm bowl of chicken noodle soup for Yvonne.
Yvonne wasn''t a picky eater and finished the entire bowl.
"Full?" Bet asked.
"Mmm," Yvonne nodded. The next second, Bet swept her up into his arms.
"I''m still hungry," Bet said, striding quickly towards the bedroom.
On his wedding night, Mr. Noah Thompson slept alone.
Bet and Yvonne, on the other hand, spent a passionate night together, tangled
in each other''s arms until the early hours.
Probably from exhaustion, Yvonne fell asleep immediately afterward.
The next morning, she was woken by a sharp pain.
She rolled over, clutching her stomach and groaning.
Bet, who had just woken up and was sitting on the edge of the bed getting dressed, saw her furrowed brow and asked, "What''s wrong?"
"My stomach hurts." Yvonne, still groggy from sleep, replied with her eyes half- closed, "I think my period is about to start."
After hearing that, Bet looked at her intently for a moment before saying, "Your period isn''t due now. Isn''t it already about two weekste?"
Bet kept better track of Yvonne''s cycle than she did herself. However, he had been away at the military base recently, so he wasn''t sure if herst period hade or not.
Hearing that, Yvonne was instantly wide awake. She realized her period really hadn''te this month; it was almost two weekste.
She sat up in bed automatically, staring at Bet in a daze.
"Let''s go to the hospital and get it checked out," Bet said, reaching out to stroke her hair. "Don''t be scared. It''ll be okay."
Bet chose afortable, casual outfit from the walk-in closet for Yvonne to change into.
Because Yvonne''s stomach hurt too much, they skipped breakfast entirely, and Bet drove her straight to the hospital.
The best obstetrics and gynecology department in Istra was at the Women and Children''s Hospital.
Bet had already contacted the vice president of the Istra Women and Children''s Hospital, who was also the head of the OB/GYN department, a top specialist in the country named Dr. Powell.
They didn''t need to wait in line or register. Bet carried Yvonne directly into the department head''s office.
Bet exined Yvonne''s situation to Dr. Powell in great detail: abdominal pain after intercourse, and a period that was almost two weekste.
"Where exactly is the pain?" Dr. Powell asked while gently palpating Yvonne''s abdomen. After locating the spot, she nodded and started ordering tests on herputer.
“It''s most likely a pregnancy. Let''s start with a blood test and an ultrasound."
After speaking, Dr. Powell had a resident physician take them downstairs to the examination rooms.
They drew blood first, then
performed the ultrasound.
Throughout the entire process,
Yvonne was in aplete daze
Bet, however, sé?rned much
calmer, staying by her side and cooperating with the doctors.
The test results came back in the afternoon: Yvonne was six weeks pregnant. She
hadn''t had a clue, which showed just how oblivious she could be.
The abdominal pain was caused by their strenuous activities the previous night, pounded by her somewhat delicate constitution, which had led to the pain and slight spotting.
The doctor prescribed prenatal
supplements, and strictly instructed them to abstain from intercourse for the first trimester Bet cleared his throat, a sh of frustrated resignation crossing his face, while Yvonne fought back a flushed smile. Cóntent
Dr. Powell was very thorough and responsible. She listed all the dos and don''ts for pregnancy in a booklet, wrote down the date for the next prenatal check-up, and
reminded them to be on time.
After the examination, Bet held Yvonne''s hand as they walked out of the
hospital.
