Chapter 842

Every powerful family in the city had their eyes on the spot next to Mr. Thompson.

At first, with Bet having a childhood sweetheart, no other girl stood a chance. Then, he was with the eldest daughter of the powerful Walker family, and no one dared to challenge that union.

But in a twist that surprised everyone, Bet ended up marrying the James family''s rtively unknown granddaughter—a girl nearly ten years his junior.

For this young woman to have such a firm grip on the Thompson family''s heir, it was clear she was a force to be reckoned with.

Mrs. Taylor chimed in with augh, though her smile was a bit stiff.

She remembered how she''d once looked down on Yvonne when she found out her own son, Thomas, was in love with her. She had been critical of Yvonne, even mocking her to her face, telling her she was out of her league and should stop social climbing.

But as it turned out, Yvonne had no interest in Thomas and had married Bet instead.

Now, Emma had epted her fate and was simply waiting for grandchildren.

Thomas, older than Bet, was still single. No matter how many eligible young women from prominent families Mrs. Taylor introduced him to, he refused to even meet them, seemingly resigned to being a bachelor for life.

Mrs. Taylor was so stressed she felt her hair was turning white.

After the two families exchanged pleasantries, the lights in the banquet hall dimmed. The wedding was about to begin.

Both the Thompson and Scott families had clearly invested heavily in this wedding. The crystal stage was magnificent, and the champagne roses nking it had been flown in from abroad.

Noah had given Karina a massive nine-figure settlement in the divorce, which didn''t leave him with much. He had probably poured the rest of his fortune into this wedding.

He was truly devoted to Cynthia, which made all of Cynthia''s scheming to marry him seem worthwhile.

Taking advantage of the dim lighting, Yvonne slipped away to the restroom. On her way back, she caught sight of the Whites.

They entered the hall furtively and vanished into the crowd in the blink of an eye.

By the time Yvonne returned to her seat, the wedding had begun. Cynthia, escorted by Mr. Scott, was making her way down the aisle.

As the bride appeared, all eyes in the room were on her.

Thus, aside from Bet, no one noticed Yvonne had even left and returned.

"I just saw the Whites," Yvonne whispered to Bet.

"The Whites are here? At the wedding?" Bet frowned instinctively.

"Yes," Yvonne nodded. "I wonder what kind of trouble they''re nning to stir up now."

Bet''s expression darkened. This was a Thompson family wedding, and nearly every prominent figure in Istra was present. If the Whites Caused a scene, the Thompsons'' reputation would be on the line.

He turned to look at the bodyguards standing a short distance away.

Bet was almost always apanied by bodyguards when he went out, but

they typically kept their distance to avoid disrupting his daily life.

The head of his security detail saw his nce and immediately came over. After bending down to receiv Bet''s quiet instructions, be discreetly withdrew.

    Meanwhile...

Mr. and Mrs. White, along with Karina and Nic, had already found their way inside the banquet hall.

With the Thompsons hosting such arge event, it hadn''t been too difficult for the Whites to get their hands on an invitation.

After entering, they found an inconspicuous table in a corner.

Thanks to the dim lighting and the fact that the spotlight and everyone''s attention

were fixed on the bride and groom, no one noticed them.

"Noah''s second wedding is even grander than his first. He''s clearly showing no respect for our family or Kariga," Mrs White hissed, her face

    contorted with anger.
