Ever since his promotion fell through, Vincent had been sidelined in Istra. He was walking on eggshells, aware that countless eyes were on him.
Vincent had been keeping a low profiletely, afraid to make a single move. But Eden, that idiot, had used his old connections to smuggle contraband and was caught red-handed.
Thankfully, Vincent had cut ties with those people in time; otherwise, Eden would have dragged him down with him.
From the moment Eden walked into the house, Vincent had been stone-faced.
A servant brought them tea and quickly left. Vincent took a sip, trying to suppress his anger, before speaking. "You went to Mr. Thompson Sr.''s birthday dinner. Did the old man say anything?"
"Grandfather was in a good mood for his birthday, so he didn''t give me a hard time," Eden replied cautiously.
Vincent''s expression didn''t improve upon hearing this.
Eden had caused such a massive screw-up, and Mr. Thompson Sr. couldn''t even be bothered toment. It was obvious he had already given up on this grandson.
It made sense. With a brilliant grandson like Bet, Mr. Thompson Sr. naturally had no regard for Eden.
Vincent had just received news that Bet had been promoted again. To hold such a high position at his young age meant his career would only continue to climb.
Vincent had missed out on such a prize son-inw, and now, looking at Eden, he found him more and more pathetic.
"I heard from a friend in the police department that your case is still under investigation. You''re out on bail, but once a verdict is reached, you''ll still have to face legal consequences."
Although Vincent couldn''t stand Eden anymore, he was still his son-inw, so he felt obligated to offer some advice.
But Eden clearly didn''t take Vincent''s
words seriously. "The shipping.
"Your grandmother, how is her health?" Vincent asked casually upon hearing Eden mention Mrs. Thompson Sr.
"The doctors say it''s not good. Her heart failure is severe. But the Thompson family hired the best medical team to keep her alive," Eden answered truthfully.
Vincent nodded. "Mrs. Thompson Sr. is your greatest asset," he advised. "Before she passes away, you have to make sure she arranges your future for you."
"I understand," Eden agreed with a nod.
Mrs. Thompson Sr. was hanging on by a thread for her precious grandson. She wouldn''t be able to rest in peace until she handed over the entire Thompson Group to Eden.
But most of the shares in the
Thompson Group were in Bet''s hands they were powerless to do. anything about it. All they could scheme for now was Frank''s personal assets.
After talking with Eden for a while longer, Vincent sent him on his way.
Eden wanted to take Ynda with him, but Mrs. Walker said she was already asleep and should stay at her parents house for a couple of days to rest and avoid getting sick.
Eden left alone.
After he was gone, Mrs. Walker sat down next to Vincent, sighing with a frown.
"That shipping route... we ran it for so many years, only to have it ruined by Eden. He''spletely useless. I knew we never should have let Ynda marry that idiot."
"Enough. What''s the point of saying that now? If your daughter had been capable enough to win over Bet''s heart, we wouldn''t be tied to Eden and stuck in this mess."
