Chapter 601

"But, what''s done is done. You''re with that young woman now, so treat her well. It''s time you settled down," Frank added with another sigh.

Bet was holding his phone, texting Yvonne. After he sent the message, there was no reply; she must have fallen asleep.

Bet turned off his phone screen and finally looked up at Frank.

"You should worry less about my affairs and more about your own," Bet reminded him. "You mom doesn''t have much time left, and who knows what kind of trouble she''ll stir up before she goes. I doubt she can die in peace without turning this family upside down first."

"Bet, that''s your grandmother," Frank said wearily.

Bet just scoffed. "The truth hurts. If you don''t want to hear it, there''s nothing I

can do. If she causes another scene, your marriage will finally be over."

The car slowly entered the estate and pulled up in front of the vi.

Simon got out first and respectfully opened the door for Frank.

"Aren''t youing in with me?" Frank asked, turning to Bet without getting out.

"Don''t drag me into your mess," Bet said bluntly.

"You brat. Wasn''t I the one who always shielded you whenever you got into

trouble?" Frank grumbled before slowly stepping out of the car.

Frank watched Bet''s car drive away before turning and heading into the vi.

Despite thete hour, the vi was still brightly lit.

Emma was sitting in the living room in her pajamas, waiting for him.

“Emma, why are you still awake?” Frank asked, clearing his throat.

“Waiting for you, of course,” Emma said coolly before asking, “Is she only quiet when she''s six feet under?"

Her words were sharp, and Frank could only sigh in resignation.

"The doctor said Mom has six months at most."

"She''s going to live that long? Just think of all the trouble she can cause in that time," Emma sneered.

"Emma, no matter how bad she''s been, she''s at death''s door. Can you please not talk like that?" Frank pleaded.

Emma retorted, “Am I not speaking the truth? In your eyes, she''s a loving mother, but to me, she''s a vicious old hag who has done nothing but evil. I wish she''d die sooner."

    "Emma..."

Emma had been fiddling with the remote. Now, she mmed it onto the floor.

"Frank, from the day I married you, that old hag has made my life hell, finding fault with everything I do. I''d buy her gifts and supplements for the holidays, and shred throw them out in front of all our rtives. I''d buy her jewelry, and she''d sell it to send money back to her family. I put up with it, again and again, for you."

"When your business was struggling, I was pregnant and taking acting gigs on the road, working until the middle of the night. But she''d lock the door and pretend she couldn''t hear me. I had to go back tommy parents'' house. The roads were ley and I slipped and fell. Tost the baby. It was five months along, already formed, and that old hag killed it."

“The miscarriage damaged my body. It took me years to recover, and I could never get pregnant again. And what did that old crone do? She drugged you and pushed her niece into your bed. Has she ever done a single decent thing?"

"There''s no justice in this world if a wicked person like her gets to live to such an old age. Frank, don''t you dare think death absolves her of her sins. Someone like her deserves to be sent to the deepest circle of hell.”
