Most film and television auditions were held in hotels, but the audition for ''The Cyan Fox'' was taking ce in a theater.
The director, York Vasquez, had been a stage actor in his youth. Although he had since be a renowned film director, he still held a special fondness for the
theater and the stage.
Since it was a crucial audition, Sandra personally apanied Yvonne to the grand theater in the city center.
They arrived a bitte, and the street outside the theater was already lined with rows of luxury cars andrge, custom vans used by A-list celebrities.
There was nowhere for them to park, so they had the driver drop them off at the entrance.
"Looks like it''s quite a party in there," Sandra remarked, ncing at the surrounding vehicles.
Yvonne followed Sandra into the theater, but it was surprisingly quiet inside. The actors and actresses who hade to audition, regardless of their fame, were all seated obediently in the audience, waiting for Director Vasquez to call their names. York sat in the front row with the screenwriter and producers of ''The Cyan Fox''.
On stage, two actresses were in the middle of their audition. Both were familiar faces: one was a popr young starlet, and the other was the lead in a recent hit TV series. They were auditioning for the first and third female lead roles, respectively, making them fiercepetitors.
And in the audience, there were two A-list actresses, three or four other popr starlets, and numerous other well-known actresses. With so many contenders and so few roles, thepetition was intense.
"Yvonne, Yvonne, over here!" Shirley was also there. She was sitting in a back row and spotted Yvonne right away, waving enthusiastically.
Yvonne and Sandra went over and sat with her.
"I thought it was at ten? Did the audition start early?" Yvonne whispered to Shirley.
Shirley exined, "See that young girl next to Director Vasquez? She''s the investor''s representative. She arrived early and demanded that the auditions start ahead of schedule. She even tried to disqualify anyone who arrivedter. Director Vasquez had to stepan and say it was against the rules. After some negotiation, they agreed to start early but still allowter arrivals to audition."
Yvonne followed her gesture and looked toward the front row.
York was in his fifties, with a small mustache that made him look rather serious Sitting next to him was the screenwriter for ''The Cyan Fox'', and to Yvonne''s surprise, it was Cynthia.
No wonder this show had attracted so many big names. It had not only a great director like York, but also a famous screenwriter like Cynthia backing it.
Cynthia was wearing a light gray power suit, looking sharp and professional. She waspletely different from the Cynthia Yvonne remembered.
So many years had passed; no one ever stays the same. People change, and time moves on.
Next to Cynthia sat a young woman in an elegant long dress, adorned
with expensive jewelry. It was the
same girl. Yvonne
had seen on the
''blind date with Bet a few days
ago.
Even though it had been just a fleeting nce, Yvonne was sure she wasn''t mistaken.
Beside the girl, whose name was Mignon, sat the film''s producer, a man in histe forties named Marshall. He was slightly overweight and a well-known figure in the industry.
