Chapter 581

After Mrs. Walker went upstairs, Vincent took a sip of his tea, a smile on his face as he spoke to Eden.

"Wasn''t it the Thompson family dinner tonight? How did you get back so early?"

"Grandmother wasn''t feeling well, so Ynda and I took her back to the nursing home," Eden replied, sidestepping the real issue.

Vincent didn''t press further, changing the subject. "I saw your father after the holiday and mentioned you and Ynda. You''re both not getting any younger; the marriage should be settled soon. The doctor says she''s in good health-fit for pregnancy and childbirth."

"Does my father approve of my marriage to Ynda? After all, Bet used to be so fond of her," Eden asked, testing the waters as he held his cup.

"Your father agrees. After all, you are his son too," Vincent said with a smile, though he was also being evasive.

He had indeed mentioned the marriage to Frank, and while Frank hadn''t objected, he had been clearly uninterested.

Everyone in their circle knew that in Frank''s heart, Bet was his only son; he never paid much attention to Eden''s affairs.

But no matter how little he cared, Eden was still his biological son. He had given him the shippingpany without a second thought. For now, this chess piece was still very useful to Vincent.

Eden toyed with his cup and said nonchntly, "A pity I''m not my father''s only son.''

"Being the only son doesn''t matter. Bing the heir to the Thompson family is what''s most important," Vincent advised.

Eden scoffed. "My father will never let me be the heir. Not unless Bet is dead." Hearing this, Vincent''s brows knitted together. "Eden, what are you saying?"

"You''re a smart man, Mr. Walker. You know exactly what I mean," Eden said calmly. "You have some nerve," Vincent said, mming his cup down on the coffee table. The force of the impact made the cup jump, sshing tea onto the table.

"Bet is the apple of Frank''s eye. Not to mention, Bet is highly skilled himself and who knows how many bodyguards Frank has watching over him in the shadows. It''s impossible to kill him."

    in

"We can''t kill him out here, but what about in the military?" Eden raised an eyebrow: "I recall Bet has had a few close calls on dangerous missions. Mr. Walker, why don''t we give him a little push and send him on his way for good?"

"You overestimate me. I don''t have the power to reach into the military," Vincent refused without a second thought.

"This isn''t about capability. It''s about

fear holding you back," Eden said,

still ying with his cup "Don''t worry, Even if things go wrong take the fall. You have nothing to fear."

Vincent retorted, "Bet is Frank''s pride and joy. If you kill him, aren''t you afraid Frank will make you pay with your life?"

Eden chuckled. "Once Bet is dead, I''ll be his only son. If he gets rid of me, does he want to end his family line?"

Vincent''s frown deepened, and he said nothing.

"Years ago, I almost prevented Bet from being born, and Dad didn''t do anything to me. He just sent Vanessa abroad, and the matter was dropped," Eden continued.

"I hope you''ll consider this carefully. If you help me, I can better help you. You still have business to conduct over at Riverbend, don''t you?"

By the end, Eden''s words carried a clear threat.
