Chapter 572

"Mr. Bet is here." The housekeeper heard the car and came out with a smile to greet them.

"Good morning, Lily," Bet greeted her politely before making an introduction.

    "This is my girlfriend, Yvonne."

"Yvonne, this is Lily. She takes care of my grandfather.”

"Hello, Lily," Yvonne greeted the housekeeper politely.

The previous housekeeper who looked after Mr. Thompson Sr. had retired a couple

of years ago due to her age. Yvonne had never met this one, which was why Bet made a point to introduce them.

"The youngdy is so beautiful. Mr. Bet certainly has good taste," Lily said graciously, warmly weing them inside.

"Has Noah arrived yet?" Bet asked casually as they walked in.

"Mr. Noah had somethinge up at the office; he''ll be here this afternoon. Karina came with her inws, and she brought Nic,” Lily replied.

Bet nodded and led Yvonne inside.

As they entered the house, Karina came over to greet them with a smile. She was visibly stunned to see Yvonne, clearly not expecting Bet to bring her to a formal family dinner.

    Bet greeted Karina politely.

“Bet, you''re here!” Karina always greeted Bet with a smile. “Grandfather was just asking about you. He said to go see him in his study when you arrived."

"Alright," Bet nodded and started to lead Yvonne upstairs, but Karina stopped him.

"Grandfather might want to discuss business with you. It probably wouldn''t be appropriate to bring Ms. Jones up. I''ll take her for a drink, and you cane find her after you''re done talking with him,” Karina said.

Bet raised an eyebrow slightly and looked at Yvonne, as if asking for her opinion.

Before Yvonne could speak, Karina added, "What are you worried about with Ms. Jones in my care? Do you think I''m going to bully her?"

Karina said this with augh, her tone teasing, as she warmly reached out and took Yvonne''s hand.

Yvonne''s expression remained neutral, but she was polite enough not to pull her hand away.

Seeing this, Bet said to Yvonne, "I''ll go up and see Grandfather first. I''lle find you in a bit."

He wasn''t worried about Yvonne being bullied; she wasn''t the type to take it lying down.

"Okay," Yvonne nodded, watching Bet''s figure disappear around the bend in the staircase.

The moment Bet was gone, Karina let go of Yvonne''s hand. Her superior demeanor returned instantly, putting on the full airs of Mrs. Thompson.

Back when Ynda was Bet''s girlfriend, Karina, with her less prominent family background, had always felt inferior around Ms. Walker, even acting cautiously.

Now, Bet had found an actress whose father was a criminal. And while her mother Teresa was the eldest daughter of the James family she wasn''t well-regarded by them at all. Essentially, she had no family standing to speak of.

In front of Yvonne, Karina''s confidence immediately swelled.

"Lily, take this youngdy to the drawing room to sit for a while, and get her a drink,"

Karina ordered the housekeeper. Then she turned to Yvonne, her expression haughty.

"This is your first time at the Thompson estate, Ms. Jones. I''d advise you not to wander off. The threshold of the Thompson family home is high. You''ve worked so hard to get a foot in the door; it would be

a huge embarrassment if you were to be kicked out."

As she finished speaking, her eyesnded on the ne around Yvonne''s neck.

The ten-carat pink diamond glittered under the light, dazzling and radiant.

Karina''s eyes burned with envy. Even she, the eldest daughter-inw of the Thompson family, had never Worn such a priceless piece of

    had never

jewelry. What right did Yvonne, a

nobody actress, have to wear it!
