Chapter 559

She and Frank had been through so much together. Even though that illegitimate son and his mother were like a thorn in her heart, they had never divorced because their bond was still deep.

Yesterday was their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. Frank had spent the entire day in the kitchen, personally cooking a full-course meal for her.

Frank had grown up with a silver spoon in his mouth; a man like him had no idea how to cook.

He had followed video tutorials, but in the end, only half of the dishes on the table were edible. Sitting there, Emma could smell the burnt scent wafting from the food.

Fortunately, the seafood was steamed, which was hard to mess up. There was also a cake and red wine.

    They had a few sses.

Emma couldn''t hold her liquor well and got dizzy, so Frank carried her to bed.

Frank was getting older, but he had kept himself fit. He had enough energy to keep her up for half the night, and Emma almost couldn''t get up in the morning.

Bet walked Emma to her car, opened the door, and helped her in.

Just as the door closed, his phone rang. He pulled it out, nced at the caller ID, and answered.

Yvonne''s soft, gentle voice came through the phone, and Bet''s expression immediately softened.

"Mom just called and asked me toe over for a meal. I''m driving to the Jones'' house now. You can meet me there when you''re done."

The "Mom" Yvonne referred to was, of course, Monica.

"Alright, I''ll be there soon," Bet replied with a warm smile.

He hung up the phone and turned to see that Emma''s car was still parked there.

The rear window was down, and Emma was staring at him with a cold expression.

“Can''t you two go a few moments without calling each other?”

"Mom, you know how it is when you''re in love," Bet said with a grin, then pointed to her cor. "Dad''s still got it, huh?"

“Don''t you get smart with me,” Emma said, subconsciously touching her neck where there was, indeed, a faint mark.

"Don''t forget the family dinner this weekend. Make sure you clear your schedule," Emma added.

Bet nodded to show he understood.

Emma then picked up a square jewelry box from the seat beside her and passed it through the window.

"Your father bought this. He has no

Bet took the jewelry box and opened it. Inside was aplete set of pink diamond jewelry. The logo on the box was from a luxury brand''s high-end custom line The set wa conservatively estimated to be worth millions.

His dad had always been generous, never hesitating to spend a fortune on his wife.

"On Yvonne''s behalf, thank you. There''s no better family than you," Bet said with a smile.

"Save the sweet talk. When she

actually gives birth to a son, then we can be a real family," Emma said coolly before rolling up the window and telling the driver to go.

The car started and slowly pulled onto the main road.

Bet watched until Emma''s Maybach disappeared from view before turning and getting into his own car.

He drove off onto another street, heading in the opposite direction from Emma.

It was already noon by the time Bet''s car pulled into the small yard of the Jones

    family home.

Yvonne and Monica were in the kitchen preparing lunch.

Yvonne was washing and chopping vegetables, helping Monica out.

Hearing a car, Monica peered out the window. "Bet''s here. Yvonne, go get the door."

"Okay." Yvonne dried her hands, left the kitchen, and hurried to the front door.
