"Yvonne, are you crazy?!" Luna shrieked, jumping to her feet.
Yvonne pointed a finger at her, angrier than ever. "Luna, is your heart made of stone? Two vibrant lives were just extinguished. Even if you have no sympathy, you should at least have some basic respect for life. Watch your mouth!"
"Luna, you should respect the dead. That was way out of line," Shirley added, her eyes still red from seeing the bodies.
"Why are you all ming me? It''s not like I killed them!" Luna yelled, losing control. "Don''t I even have the right to speak?"
After her outburst, no one said a word.
Everyone just stared at her, their eyes filled with anger, as if she were the real monster.
"You... why are you all ganging up on me?" Luna''s eyes reddened with fury.
"Who''s ganging up on you? Think before you speak. A slip of the tongue can have serious consequences, and I doubt your sugar daddy can protect you from everything," Yvonne said coldly, then sat back down.
The assistant director rearranged the schedule, and the van took the guests to a new filming location.
Because of thest-minute change of venue, many of the nned segments had to be reced.
The original three-day shoot was hastilypleted in two.
After filming wrapped up, Yvonne didn''t go back to her downtown apartment. She went straight to Cherry Bay.
Bet was back at the military base and wasn''t home. Only Helen and Bullet were there.
"Yvonne, you''re back! Come in, have you eaten?" Helen said with a smile as she opened the door and took Yvonne''s luggage.
Bullet, who had been lying on the floor, immediately jumped up and bounded over when he heard Yvonne arrive.
Yvonne bent down to hug Bullet and pat his head. "Good boy. Go y for a bit."
"You''re back sote. Have you had dinner?" Helen asked again, cing the suitcase in a corner.
"Not yet," Yvonne answered truthfully.
"Then I''ll go make you something to eat," Helen said, heading into the kitchen.
Yvonne went to her room first for a quick wash and a change of clothes. When she came out, Helen had already set a bowl of pasta on the table, alone with two simple stir fisted dishes.
"Thank you, Helen. You didn''t have to," Yvonne said, sitting down at the table and picking up her utensils to eat the pasta.
Bullet trotted over, wagging his tail, andy down at Yvonne''s feet, his big eyes watching her.
When Yvonne finished her pasta and was about to clear the table, Helen came over.
"I''ll get that. You just got back from a long trip. You should get some rest," Helen said, efficiently clearing the dishes and taking them to the kitchen.
Yvonne went back to her room andy on the bed. Staring at the ceiling, her mind was filled with the image of thest time she saw ra.
Such a young, vibrant life, just gone from the world.
Although Yvonne hadn''t seen the body, she knew ra had been raped and murdered. Her death must have been painful and filled with despair. And what must ra''s grandmother have felt, watching her only granddaughter be vited like that?
That kind of pain doesn''t just hurt — it tears the soul apart.
At that moment, Yvonne truly wished she were still a police officer, so she could personally solve the
case, catch the killer, and bring
peace to the victims.
