Chapter 546

Ynda stood by Eden''s side. Though she said nothing, even her wless makeup couldn''t hide her displeasure.

She felt utterly humiliated by the Monroe siblings.

After exchanging a few more pleasantries with Cynthia, Eden was pulled away by Ynda.

Bet walked over with Mr. Scott Sr. He beckoned to Yvonne, and she joined them.

"So this is your girlfriend? She seems quite nice," Mr. Scott Sr. said with a nod. "Oh, she''s just a bit stubborn," Bet said with a smile.

"As long as you like her," Mr. Scott Sr. said gently before turning to Cynthia. "Cynthia, please see Bet and this youngdy out for me."

"Yes, Grandfather." Cynthia nodded, then politely said to Bet and Yvonne, "I apologize for not being a better host today. I''ll make it up to you another time, Mr. Thompson, Ms. Jones."

"It was nothing, Cynthia. Don''t worry about it," Bet replied graciously.

Cynthia escorted Bet and Yvonne to the entrance, and after a polite farewell, she watched them leave.

Cynthia stood on the steps, watching Bet and Yvonne''s retreating figures.

Yvonne''s dress was fine indoors, but it looked a bit thin for the outdoors. There was still a dozen meters or so between the entrance and their parked car.

Bet casually took off his coat and draped it over Yvonne''s shoulders, pulling her into his arms to shield her as he helped her into the car.

"What are you looking at?" Mr. Scott Sr. asked, his voice low. He had appeared beside Cynthia at some point.

Cynthia nced at Mr. Scott Sr. "Just feeling a bit sentimental. I remember how deeply Bet and Yvonne loved each other, a love meant tost a lifetime. But after Yvonne''s death, Bet was able to fall for someone else, just as passionately. It seems nothing in this world is truly unchangeable."

After hearing this, Mr. Scott Sr. frowned slightly and said abruptly, "Noah didn''te. Are you disappointed?"

Cynthia chuckled. "There''s nothing to be disappointed about. I knew he wouldn''te."

Cynthia had known Noah for so many years; she knew him better than anyone. Back then, she had gone abroad and gotten engaged.

Noah didn''t interfere with her life; instead, he chose to marry and have a family.

Now, she had broken her engagement and returned. He was married with a family, living a happy life, and she had no intention of interfering in his.

"Cynthia. I know your parents forced you to go abroad and get engaged, but they did it for your own good. No matter how unwilling you are, what''s done is done. You have to ept it.

Mr. Scott Sr.''s tone grew heavier, carrying a clear warning.

"Cynthia, let me remind you of something. The Scott family has no ce for those who wallow in self-pity."

Cynthia shook her head andughed. "Don''t worry, Grandfather. I won''t let any rtionshippromise my family''s honor."

"Good. That''s good." Mr. Scott Sr. nodded and patted her shoulder.

"Alright, it''s cold out here. Let''s go inside."

By now, Bet''s car had left the

Scott family''s estate. As it approached the intersection, h spotted a ck Cullinan parked by the side of the road.

Noah was standing beside the car, his head bowed as he smoked.

Bet slowed his car and pulled over as well.

"Wait here for a moment. I''m going to have a quick word with Noah. be right back." Bet unbuckled his seatbelt told Yvonne, andthen. got out of the car.

    He strode over to Noah.

When Noah saw him, he smiled faintly and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. "Want one?"

Bet took one with a smile, his gaze sweeping briefly over the ground.
