Chapter 536

“As long as I''m in Istra, I''lle and spend time with you and the baby every single day," Vincent promised.

    "You swear?" April pressed.

"Yes, yes, I swear," Vincent said, raising his hand in a gesture of promise.

For now, he was willing to humor her. After all, they had history, and now, they had a child on the way.

Satisfied, April leaned into his embrace.

Vincent smiled and held her close, but just then, his phone vibrated.

He nced at the caller ID, and his expression hardened. He stood up to take the call outside, but April grabbed his arm.

"It''s your wife again, isn''t it? Just go back to her. You don''t have to bother with me anymore."

"Don''t be difficult. It''s business. I''ll be right back," Vincent said before quickly walking out of the room.

He went into the fire escape stairwell to take the call in private.

It was Tim Walker, Vincent''s distant cousin. Tim was sharp and resourceful, and he managed all of Vincent''s less-than-legal enterprises.

After Colin''s death, their illicit shipments were entrusted to Tim for transport.

Tim rarely contacted Vincent directly, so a sudden call usually meant trouble.

As expected, when the call connected, Tim''s anxious voice came through. "Ourtest shipment got held up at the border. Luckily, we still have some connections there, so we secured the goods, but they''re cracking down hard right now, so we can''t move them. Leaving them sitting there is a huge risk."

Vincent paused for a moment before replying, "Contact Eden. Have him move the shipment. Now that we have thend at Riverbend, it''s time to put it to use."

    "But the demolition there isn''t

finished yet. TV show was filming there recently, which attracted a ton of fans and tour groups. It''s too

the shipment through there without being exposed," Tim countered.

    crowded and conspicuou

"If there are too many people, get rid of them. Do I have to spell everything out for you?" Vincent said impatiently.

    Tim immediately understood. “Right."

Previously, when they were shipping goods across another border, the local market was just as crowded. Vincent had his men stage a robbery-murder nearby.

The news of the homicide caused a panic, and the local vigers became too scared to go to the market.

They could use the same method again.

"Make it clean this time. If you run into any trouble, talk to April. She was an instructor at the police academy for years. Her

    counter-surveince skills are

top-notch and she still has connections inside the force,"

    Vincent added.

"We have to trouble April again? I heard from your secretary that she''s pregnant. I don''t want to disturb her while she''s resting."

"It''s not even certain she''ll carry it to term," Vincent said coldly. "Don''t worry about that. The business has toe first."

After giving his instructions, Vincent hung up.

He didn''t return to the hospital room. Instead, he gave his secretary a few quick orders and left.

    ...

Yvonne spent a week in the hospital for her fracture, followed by a month of rest at home before she could walk properly again.

She was an active person by nature, and being cooped up in bed for a month was pure torture.

Having the cast removed felt like being released from prison.

"The doctor said it will take at least six months for the bone to fully heal. Even though you can walk normally now, you can''t overexert yourself or Put too much strain on your leg Bet reminded fier carefully.
