"Good," Monica nodded, adding earnestly, "Bet, since you''ve decided to be with Yvonne, you must treat her with sincerity. We both truly want you two to be happy."
"I understand," Bet nodded. "The kitchen is clean now. Yvonne hasn''te back down, so I''ll go upstairs to check on her."
"Alright. Tell her toe down and watch TV with us. The g is quite good,'' Monica said."
Bet left the kitchen and strode upstairs.
Yvonne''s bedroom was on the second floor.
When Bet walked in, Yvonne was sitting on the edge of the bed, casually flipping through an old magazine.
As for thew book Monica had mentioned, she hadn''t even looked for it.
She knew the book was on the top shelf, which was a hassle to reach. Besides, who would read something like that on a holiday?
"What did my mom want to talk to you about?" Yvonne asked, setting the magazine aside and looking up at Bet.
Bet walked over to Yvonne, his tall frame leaning casually against the bookshelf.
"I identally called you Vonnie just now, and your mother overheard. She thought I was treating you as a substitute for Vonnie and gave me a stern lecture about how wrong that is."
Yvonne didn''t know what to say. After a long pause, she simply replied, "Oh."
Bet ruffled her hair, a helpless smile on his face. "Your mom wants us toe downstairs and watch the g."
Yvonne nodded, stood up, and left the room with Bet, following him downstairs.
In the living room, Monica had just finished cutting up some fruit and was sitting down on the sofa.
"Come watch, thisedy sketch is pretty funny."
"Coming!" Yvonne walked over and sat down next to Monica. She picked an orange from the fruit bowl a started peeling it while watching the sketchten TV content
The sketch was full of jokes, andughter filled the room, both on and off the screen.
When Bruce returned, he heard theughter from inside and his steps lightened.
"What''s so funny?" Bruce asked as he came in from the cold. The heating was on full st, and the wave of warm air was instantlyforting.
"Mr. Jones," both Bet and Yvonne greeted him.
"It''s a sketch on the g show. It''s really funny," Yvonne added.
Bruce took off his coat, nced at the TV, and chuckled. "You know, the actor in this sketch was your mom''s idol when she was young. He wasn''t aedian back then he was heartthrob incredibly handsome. She was a huge fan."
"Really?" Yvonne asked in disbelief.
"He really was handsome, E
guy for a lot of teenage girls," Monica said, scrolling through her phone to find an old picture of the
actor in his youth content
After seeing the photo, Yvonne couldn''t help but sigh. Time really is a cruel, cruel thing.
Yvonne and Bet stayed with Bruce and Monica until the g ended before leaving.
Yvonne had a flight back to the set early the next morning, so she went back to Cherry Bay with Bet for the night.
As they were taking the elevator up, it suddenly malfunctioned, plunging them into darkness.
Startled, Yvonne instinctively pressed herself against Bet.
Bet wrapped an arm around her slim waist and, with his other hand, urately pressed the emergency call button in the pitch-ck darkness.
