Chapter 503

Emma had initially epted Ynda because Bet had chosen her.

Afterward, Ynda''s act was so convincing that Emma genuinely began to treat her as a daughter-inw.

After Emma spoke, a heavy silence fell inside the car.

After a long moment, Bet finally broke the silence. "You''ll find out someday."

Emma knew her son; if he didn''t want to talk about something, no amount of questioning would make him.

Emma frowned but said nothing more.

    ...

Yvonne had been busy filming on set and only got a day off at the end of the holiday

    season.

After much hesitation, she booked the earliest flight back to Istra.

After the nended, Yvonne and her assistant quickly walked out of the airport, not expecting to see Bet waiting outside.

"What are you doing here? I told you not to pick me up, I could have gotten back on my own." Seeing Bet, Yvonne quickened her pace and threw herself into his arms.

Bet ruffled her hair, opened the car door, and guided her inside.

The ck Mercedes slowly drove away from the airport, heading toward the Jones''s family home.

Yvonne only had one day off and had rushed back just to reunite with her parents.

After more than an hour''s drive, the car pulled into the Jones family''s driveway.

Bruce Jones was on duty today and hadn''t returned yet.

Only Monica was at home, bustling about by herself.

"My brother and his wife are traveling abroad. Bruce has to workte tonight, so I don''t know when he''ll be back. I was all alone here, so I''m d you came."

Monica smiled and came out to greet Bet and Yvonne.

But Yvonne noticed that the corners of her eyes were slightly red, a clear sign she had been crying.

It was supposed to be a day for family reunions, but she was all alone. Just moments before, Monica had been standing in front of herte daughter''s portrait, shedding tears.

She had heard the car in the driveway, hastily wiped away her tears, ande out.

"Weren''t you on set filming? Why the sudden return? Is the movie finished?" Monica asked.

"It''s a holiday, so the crew got the day off," Yvonne replied.

    She hade straight from the

airport and hadn''t had time to buy a gift. But Bet, ever thoughtful and proper, had already prepared something in advance.

"Just having you here to keep mepany is enough to make me happy. You don''t

need to bring gifts next time. We can''t eat that much anyway."

    Monica said politely.

"It''s just a small token. If you can''t finish it, we''ll just have toe over for dinner more often and help you," Yvonne said, taking Monica''s hand.

"Alright,e over whenever you have time, and I''ll cook for you. Just don''t mind

my humble cooking." With that, Monica led Yvonne into the kitchen.

The refrigerator was full of ingredients, and Monica picked out Bet''s and Yvonne''s favorites.

Yvonne helped her out, washing and preparing the vegetables.

Monica quickly prepared a table full of dishes. Her cooking wasn''t as refined as Mrs. Moore''s, so she stuck to simple, home-cooked meals.

Monica always imed she wasn''t a good cook, but Yvonne had grown up eating her mother''s food.

    Since Bruce wasn''t home and

Bet had to drive, they didn''t open any wine. The three of them

    ate and chatted, and the

    was

    atmosphere was exceptionally warm.

After dinner, Monica checked the time. The evening g was about to start, so she

walked over to the television and turned it on.

Bet was in the kitchen with Yvonne, helping her with the dishes.
