Chapter 495

Mrs. Walker said in a gentle voice.

Mr. Walker nodded, clearly agreeing with his wife. "Your mother is right. Eden is quite capable. Thepany he founded is thriving. He''s more than qualified to take over the Thompson Group in the future. Most importantly, he''s not as arrogant and conceited as Bet. If the Walker family helps him rise to the top, he''ll naturally be indebted to us. He''ll certainly be morepliant than Bet."

Ynda was visibly annoyed by her parents'' words.

Compared to Oscar''s genuine feeling, he''s a distant second. And next to Bet''s looks and standing? He doesn''t even register. Ynda was leftpletely cold.

"Only an illegitimate daughter would marry a disgraced, illegitimate son. You want to marry me off to a bastard who isn''t even worthy of his family name? Do you want me to be theughingstock of the entire city?"

"Eden may be an illegitimate son, but he''s capable and has vision. Don''t judge a book by its cover; you shouldn''t be so prejudiced against him," Mr. Walker exined.

But Ynda wasn''t listening. "Since you''ve already made up your minds, why even bother asking for my opinion! It''s not like I have any say in who I marry anyway."

With that, Ynda stormed upstairs, mming her bedroom door so hard that the sound echoed downstairs.

Mr. Walker, furious, took his anger out on his wife.

"Look at the fine daughter you''ve raised-so willful and disobedient she won''t even listen to her own parents anymore."

"Ynda is just feeling wronged. After all, Eden is a disgraced illegitimate son," Mrs. Walker exined.

"Don''t you think I''d rather see her marry into the Thompson family with all the pomp and circumstance of a properdy? But it''s her own fault for not being able to hold onto Bet. If she can''t keep a man interested, she has no right toin."

Mr. Walker threw down his words impatiently, grabbed his coat, and headed for the door.

"Vincent, where are you going sote? The forecast said it''s going to It''s

    snow again not safe to

    be out,

    Mrs. Mrs. Walker asked with

    concern.

"Something came up at the office. I won''t be back tonight, you two go to bed early, Mr. Walker put on his coat and changed his shoes at the entryway, adding, "You should talk to Ynda, get her to spend some time with Eden. With him as our stepping stone, the Thompson Group will be within our grasp. Then she can have anything she wants."

"I know, I''ll talk to her," Mrs. Walker replied with a nod, dutifully seeing her husband

    out.

The car was already waiting at the door. The driver stood outside, respectfully holding the door open.

After getting in, Mr. Walker rolled down a window.

He waved to his wife. "Go back inside. It''s cold out, don''t catch a cold."

Mrs. Walker nodded but insisted on watching until her husband''s car had left the courtyard and disappeared from sight before turning back inside.

They had been married for over thirty years, and their enduring affection and mutual support were the envy of many.

Mr. Walker''s car drove smoothly down the road, his driver and secretary in the front seats.

"To Blue Nexus, Mayor?" the secretary in the passenger seat asked, turning to Mr. Walker.

    This

secretary had been with Mr. Walker for over a decade and was his absolute confidant. He knew, course, that on the tenth and

twent first of every month, Mr Walker had a date with Professor Martinez.

"Yes." Mr. Walker was texting on his phone and didn''t look up, merely murmuring his response.
