"Natalie."
Natalie heard Sebastian''s deep, pleasant voice.
She snapped her eyes open and met his worried, dark gaze.
She was surprised. "What... what are you doing here?"
Sebastian hade looking for her to get dinner. With everything that had happened today, he figured she hadn''t had a chance to eat lunch.
He had run into Herbert, who told him Natalie was here. He decided to take the stairs, and by a twist of fate, arrived just in time to catch her.
"You haven''t had dinner yet. I came to take you out to eat. Are you hurt?"
Natalie shook her head. "I''m fine. Thank you for saving me just now."
She struggled slightly, and he released her from his arms.
Sebastian, however, cherished the feeling of holding her. Having her in his arms felt so right, soplete.
Natalie was indeed hungry-she hadn''t eaten since morning-but she had promised Hailey she wouldn''t leave. And Brittany was still here, a venomous threat.
She refused his offer. "You go ahead. I still have things to take care of here."
Sebastian nced at Arthur Griffith. "Mr. Griffith, your wife has delivered safely. I''ll be taking my wife with me now."
Arthur, of course, recognized Sebastian. But he was stunned to hear Sebastian call Natalie his wife.
Though he also had the surname Griffith, their families were not rted. This was the first he had ever heard of Sebastian having a wife.
"Isn''t your fiancée Joanna? Sebastian, I''m warning you, keep your hands off Ms. Sanders. She saved my family today, and I won''t let you disrespect her."
Sebastian''s expression darkened. He didn''t believe him? Why did everyone think Joanna was his wife?
Natalie looked at Sebastian''s grim face. Why would he say something like that now? "Sebastian, don''t be ridiculous."
They only had a one-year
agreement, which she''d only consented to for the sake of his grandparents and more importantly, because he''d threatened her with her brother.
Sebastian frowned. "Am I wrong to say you''re my wife?" He looked at her with a faint, unreadable smile.
Natalie clenched her fists, warning
him in
pw voice, "Sebastian, don''t
push your luck. We''re
luck. We''re getting
in a few months,
Her voice was quiet, audible only to the two of them.
Sebastian''s lips curved into a cold smile. She wanted a divorce? He wouldn''t agree to it.
"Honey, let''s go get dinner. You haven''t eaten since this morning. You''re going to drop from exhaustion."
He knew the misery of stomach problems all too well; they had red up constantly after she left.
Natalie didn''t want to go. She was worried about Hailey.
As if reading her mind, Sebastian said calmly, "Natalie, Mr. Griffith is a decent man. Let him handle his own family matters."
Natalie shook her head, rejecting
him again. She had no desire to have dinner with him. "No. My
patient doesn''t trust her husb
and asked me to look after the baby.
I have to wait until she wakes up. You can go eat by yourself
Sebastian''s brow furrowed slightly, but he said nothing.
Arthur Griffith nced at Brittany.
Brittany flinched under his icy gaze, suddenly afraid.
"Arthur, I..."
"Brittany, what you did just now was attempted murder," Arthur roared.
Sebastian, who had been focused on getting Natalie to dinner, had momentarily forgotten. He turned his chilling gaze on Brittany.
"No one touches my wife. Mr. Griffith, I will be pressing charges against this woman for attempted murder."
Brittany looked at Natalie in disbelief. "Mr. Griffith, your wife is Joanna! How could it possibly be this woman?"
