The Spencer family had extensive assets overseas. Thest time Marshall''s father went abroad, he nearly had an ident, and a major project was snatched away. If the Spencer family fell, their international projects would be lost. Could that be Joanna''s true objective? She wanted to put on a show and get her hands on the Wilson family''s secrets at the same time. Mr. Wilson had a weakness for young women, and Joanna, with her looks and figure, was exactly his type.
Natalie knew she couldn''t just sit back and wait for the worst. Surely there were people in the Wilson family who despised Mr. Wilson, like his granddaughter, Xenia Wilson.
Taking a deep breath, Natalie felt a pang of regret for the years she had wasted. No matter how fast her ownpany grew, it wasn''t enough to help the Spencers.
She bit her lip and turned to find Luna, but instead, she saw Sebastian standing right behind her. In the dim light, he looked deceptivelyzy, but his eyes held a cold glint.
He smiled. “Natalie, if I told you I was also set up tonight, would you believe me?"
Seeing his familiar, roguish smile-a rare sight these days Natalie''s fists clenched instinctively. She looked at him defensively. "Sebastian, you, Joanna, and Mr. Wilson are all in the same boat. Do you really expect me to believe you?"
"Don''te here with your sarcastic remarks. I don''t care how in love you two are. It''s shameless of you, preparing a matching dress. The three of you must have had so much fun with your little scheme. I wonder if you''re as creative in bed."
Natalie turned and walked away, her back straight and cold.
Sebastian let out a helplessugh. Now he understood how she must have felt all those times when they had all believed Joanna over her. The pain of not being believed was sharp and infuriating, a fire burning in his chest with no escape.
Wait a minute. What did she just say about bed?
“Natalie, what kind of person do you take me for?" Sebastian gritted out.
"Sir, are we going home now or to the police station to bail someone out?" Sean asked, running over He wanted to test if his boss had truly spapped out of his love struck stupor.
Sebastian ignored the jibe. "Did you find anything?"
Sean grinned sheepishly. "Sir, I was downstairs watching the drama. Wendy caught Nathan cheating. He was badmouthing Ms. Sanders, so Wendyhad him arrested. Then heard Joanna screaming upstairs and ran up to see what was happening. It looked to me like you were all in on it together!"
Sebastian''s brow furrowed. If even Sean thought that, it was no wonder Natalie didn''t believe him.
"Joanna and I are not on the same side," Sebastian snapped. “Find out who drugged Marshall."
"Come on, sir, do you even need to investigate?t was obviously your first love. But with Mr. Wilson helping her, finding evidence will be nearly impossible." Sean had seen the whole thing from the doorway. This kind of dramatic disy was
Joanna
signature move. Now that
she had Mr. Wilson protecting her, she would try to blow things up as much as possible. Others might see her ulterior motives, but since it wasn''t their problem, they wouldn''t get involved.
Sebastian''s lips thinned as he watched Natalie''s retreating figure in the distance. She was leaving in a hurry.
"Go investigate," Sebastian ordered. "Call me when you find something."
With that, he took off after Natalie.
